E. German 7.62x54r sporter ammo

Ran across some East German 7.62x54r sporter ammo this weekend and bought a couple boxes because it seemed like an interesting collectible to go with the M/N rifles. The guy selling it said he thought it was just repackaged military ammo that the USSR made for the E. German market. It looks more or less the same as any other milsurp 7.62 but I haven't really kept track of what is out there in 7.62x54r ammo. Head stamp is "188" and "81". Anybody know more or have experience?

The box says "Produced in USSR." Looks like yes, 188 is USSR: http://www.7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmo.htm
There isn't any data on 1981 but it does have other years.

EXTRA has a very good reputation for accuracy. It is corrosive, of course.
