EAA Witness Match 9mm mags problems

I think the black followers maybe older models. Everything I've gotten within the last year and a half has the orange followers.
This is for both complete guns and seperate factory mags.

Orange follower with front rail should be the recent or current large frame 9mm mags. At first they used essentially the same mag as the .38 Super, but in some guns the short 9mm would not feed properly from those mags so they made ones with the front rail or track. You could try Super mags to see if they work for you. My long gone 9mm Stock ran fine with either type after my smith tweaked it a little.

Yes, I believe those are refered to as "2005" models. Orange follower, front rail inside of the magazine.
The 45s don't have the rail as they don't need it.

I called EAA who said to send the mags in and they would replace them. The guy there was very nice.

I'm going to check with my dealer I got it from, maybe he can help me out a bit.

EDIT: I just called the dealer I got it from who said he would send it to EAA for me, that way we can ship via USPS. Also he said if I could get a mag release, he would install it for me.

Yet another update. I just called back to see if they would send out a replacment mag relase, they would not.

I got a differet guy by the name of Guss. The other guy I spoke with had never heard of the issue, Guss said the problem is with the mag base plates being too think and they need to be adjusted.

To send the gun in and the mags and they would adjust them.

You can get factory mags from Bud's for $20.
I have just bought a 38 super Match and it runs great, my mags have red followers.

hags... you seem to have a good handle on Tanfoglio...
I understand they make the MAP1 9mm for Armscor... What's your 'feed' on that gun... any good... ever sold one/shot one?

(BTW: ya think Zambrano's goin to the Yanks?... he threw a great game!!... Pinella's the man!)

Yes, he did throw a great game, best I think I've seen out of a Cub's pitcher in years. That includes Woody's 20 K game in '98(?).

No, I don't think he'll go to the Yanks, he's number one here, I don't think there is a desire on either his part or management's.

I own/sell alot of EAA/Tanfoglio pistols. I don't know that I have any more of a handle on them than anyone else. I do know that they make really good stuff, EMs and Limiteds are standouts.
I've heard really good things about the MAP1 (online and trade publications) but have not handled nor sold any. I have not had anyone ask me to order one so that'll have to wait.

I think I'm going to pick up a CZ Phantom for myself and do a fullboat mod and trigger job on it. I've talked to Angus from CZ Custom and he says they're candidates for all of the usually SP-01 work.

UPDATE: IT IS THE MAG BASE PLATES.

One o fthe 4 mags I have does not have this problem. I thought I had checked all for, but obviously I did not.

When we measure the mag that worked to the mags that did not work, the base plat was 20 thousands thinner.

So the base plates are too snug.

Another update:

Sanded downt he top of the other 3 mag base plates, and they work perfect!!!

As a side note, the other mag that did work, appears to have been sanded also, you can see the lines in it. This mag is new, and came from the wholesaler this way. Which means to me, EAA had a bad run, and just so happened caught a few of them before they went out.

If you're getting mags for $25, there are not factory EAA/Tanfoglio magazines.

Not true, if you buy two or more at a time straight from EAA its $25 each + shipping which was about $7.95 for mine.

Yes, the standard base plates are too thick for the Match guns.

Wally,

I've already corrected myself in this thread. That is above dealer cost.

I have not run into any of these problems, either with a personal gun or customer gun.
