So I just put an order in for a RFB, should arrive by the end of October. This got me thinking. Plenty of people collect, well, everything. Mosins (Another one I'm starting) Mausers, milsurps, etc. Plenty of people also collect EBRs, but we never see much here beyond the AK/AR threads. So I'm asking you gentlemen, and ladies, of THR, what else can I add to diversify my EBR collection? And would would be a good place to start for others into the same niche?

My collection:
AR15 (Model 1 sales)
AK type (WASR-10)
Saiga-308
FS2000
FAL (IMBEL Metric)
PSL 54c
CETME

With the RFB, I think I'll have just about everything covered.

Aug, PS90, M1A, SCAR, Daewoo, XCR, AKs in other calibers, AR10, Various SBRs (e.g. SBR AR, SBR AK) etc.

Your collection is a nice start but far from exhaustive.

I notice you have the following covered:

AR pattern
AK pattern
FAL pattern
HK pattern
Bullpup
5.56x45
7.62x39
7.62x51

Maybe an M-1, M-1 Carbine, M-14 or Mini-14? Any of those would fill a niche for a traditional stocked semi-auto. What about a SIG 556 or FNC? Both kind of a blend of AR and AK.

I should point out that this is being a general collection (well at the moment anyways). The PS90 is a good idea though, as is the SCAR/ACR/XCR for a modern 'combat' type rifle.

Get a SBR AR, Mr. Money Bags

SBR wouldn't really be too expensive, but I'm not a fan of the whole process. Plus, I eat enough Ramen as it is. Also, this thread is for ideas. The RFB is setting me back until income tax time.

You need a Garand, the original EBR!

Have one already, very nice. But not an EBR in my book. It's milsurp. Same reason I don't count the M1A either. A fine rifle in many respects, it's too classical of a look (and yes, I am judging these guns based mostly off looks).

Agreed. You'll need to add an Armalite AR-180, Galil or Valmet, SIG AMT, Uzi, SKS, MP5, Suomi, VZ.58 and numerous others as well. But, first, are you more of a shooter or collector? If you're mainly a shooter you're probably fine with what you've got. If you'd like to get into collecting you could look into upgrading some of your rifles to ones that I'd argue would be more representative of a type. For example, you could add an SP-1 or 6920 to that Model 1 or supplement that WASR with a pre-ban Chicom or Hungarian model.

I agree w/ SBR. A good quality one w/stamp will be less than the FS2000 was and less than an M1A Socom. The process isn't that bad at all...and if you go the trust route, once the trust is set up, you can conveniently add whatever NFA you want to it in the future, no CLEO sign off or photos req'd.

I have a few recommendations. You need an M1A or Garand in my opinion; they are among some of my favorites. You mention milsurps, you could try a true rifleman's rifle like a Swedish or Swiss Mauser. They are very accurate and true works of art. You could also get something that will allow you to a lot. You could get an AK74 along with a pile of the surplus 5.45x39. You could also get an SKS, no collection is complete without one. They are just a blast to shoot.

Hmm, older subgun replicas... that'd be fun.

For those that suggested it, I already own an SKS and a Garand, along with several bolt action milsurps (no K31 yet, but that's a different thread).

You must own the "Enhanced Battle Rifle," http://www.americanspecialops.com/special-ops-weapons/mk-14-mod-0.php

Then slap a Gemtech or Fisher on that DC Vortex.

Head shots for days...zombies don't stand a chance...

I handled a SCAR-16S today, or whatever they are calling the civilian version. Light, compact, comfortable. I think I'll wait until I get to handle the 17S before I get too excited. An 8.5 pound 7.62mm with those ergos would definitely have my attention. If I was shopping with your wallet, I'd get one of them too.

Then I'd nab up a POF-308. If you put Smithy DC Vortexs on all of them, you could use the same can on any/all of them.

I have a thing for battle rifles...sorry. Makes stockpiling ammo easier. Just lots of 7.62 NATO. Lots upon lots upon...

You could get one like this.

XCR-have one and love it
PS-90
M1A
SBRs?
Steyr AUG/MSAR
Some tricked out gatling gun .22?
5.7 AR upper

Or you could start collecting various pistol caliber rifles since you have a bunch of rifles already.

Looks like your missing an AK-74, Since you already have the .308 saiga might as well get a 12 gauge one. Maybe ya should get an RPK or RPD.

If you wanted a pistol caliber carbine you could always get a hipoint, they got the .45 one out now. You could go with a Mac 10 carbine in .45 or if you can find one of the .460 rowland ones around they pack a real punch but they stopped making them due to low number of sales.

If all else fails you can buy more magazines, ammo and accessories. Get ya one of those 75 round drums for your AK, sure they rattle like a piggy bank but they are fun.

PS90 is a very cool EBR to have, I love mine.

Also right now there are great deals to be had on MSAR STG-556 rifles and Sig 556 rifles as well.

I just purchased a brand new Sig 556 from Bud's Gun Shop for under a $1,000!

If you want something just for fun cheap plinking there's the GSG-5, loads of fun and despite being chambered in .22 they can still be considered EBR's IMO.

GSG-5 is another for my list. So is the PS90, but I've heard mags for it are only 30rd. Not a real problem per se, more of an inquiry.
