I figured I should take a picture of my latest two purchases for my blog, and well, I couldn't help it so I brought out the whole family. As the title says it's been just about 3 years since I bought my first gun. I had no idea how much I'd have gotten into this stuff. Can't say I regret it in the least bit though!

Nothing expensive and nothing fancy. I think I've made reasonable decisions but I noticed I'm lacking in some areas from the pictures tonight. I definately need a 1911 :D

Larger pics can be nabbed from links off my blog if you want a closer view.

Inventory:
Rifles (left to right) Mosin Nagant M44, Remington 870 Express, K31 Swiss, CETME, Egyptian AK, Steyr M95, Bushmaster AR-15 "Dissapator", Saiga .410.
Handguns (left to right): Glock 21, Walther P22, Glock 23C, CZ-75B, and a Keltec P-3AT laying on the floor.

I definately need to get a 1911. After Tuner's review of the Springfield GI model I'm pretty sure an SA Milspec isn't a horribly bad choice for a starter. I'm obviously not into fancy target shooting or horribly comfortable guns at this point. It doesn't really fill any 'niche' seeing as how I've already got fullsize pistols in .45 and 9mm -- but it's just not American to not own a 1911. That's pretty much why I have the Remington 870. It's just not right to not own a reliable pump-action shotgun in this country. :D

Milsurps are fun. I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed reading about them and how much fun I've had with my Mosin. My Steyr is another matter as the ammo doesn't burn right in it that I've got on hand. I'll need to reload it to make it work. The K31 hasn't been fired as I'm awaiting proper ammo. Long story. Definately want an Enfield and should start looking at CMP to get myself a proper Garand.

Damn I'd love to get 3-4 Garands in my posession and invite older vets out for a day at the range on me. Six vets, 3-4 Garands, maybe 1k of 30-06 and bring along that "new fangled" poodle-shooter AR-15 with a slew of .223 to pass the time. Just let 'em rip away and sit back watching.

As far as battle rifles go, well, I should probably get an FAL of some kind. I don't know why -- I just think I should.

Any other suggestions on what I should start looking for? Yeah, I know the answer: all of them. :D

Nice bunch there for sure.

You mentioned you like milsurp, so my suggestion is a Mak', cheap and by all reports are reliable and well made. I'll have mine pretty soon.

cheers, ab

Makarovs rock, I love mine. Very reliable and surprisingly accurate for a milspec soviet block pistol. I have no problems hitting the A zone on a target from 25 yards with the Makarov. Mines the 9x18 although they do come in .380 as well. Check out www.makarov.com for accessories and maintenance items as well as some good tips for tweaking them.

How do you like that Walther P-22 ? Does it shoot well, accuracy, trigger etc. ? I have a couple of different .22's but the Ruger MkII 678 is too Bbl heavy for some newbie shooters and My ruger single six .22 doesn't lend too well to teaching new shooters about semi-auto operation. Just curious. :)

Very nice looking collection you have there. Yeah, them "poodle guns" are lots "o" fun.

Walther P22.

Pretty happy with. It's no target pistol, and it seems a bit picky about ammo (a few jams in my first 1,000 rounds) but it does what I want: Typical semi-auto look, feel, and mode of operation for new shooters. The magazine release is odd but that's fairly minor.

Not too heavy to get tired shooting it for an hour or two but heavy enough on the barrel to hold it nice and steady.

Good pics, and congrats on the nice collection. I have been buying guns for 14 years and I am only a little ahead of you. It doesn't help that I am only 26 and have yet to hit my peak earning years. Bottom line is I plan to buy many more guns here in the future as my income increases.
