I recently bought a lower end AR-15 and am looking for a lightly magnified scope to put on it in the 100-150. Does anyone have any suggestions of anything that would be in the 1-4x? or 3-9x? range that fits the tactical styling of the AR.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the input right now for the price the Optisan mamba with the SSALT mount looks like the ticket. Any other input on where to order that from would be awesome. Also anyone with any other options I am still open to suggestions

I have a Nitrex by Weaver 1.5-5x32 on one of my AR's. I can shoot with both eyes open on 1.5 and then dial it to 5x and shoot at 300 yards. For $130 you are getting a re-badged Weaver Grand slam that normally sells for $290. Here is the link for the Nitrex scope http://www.natchezss.com/Category.c...2mm Rifle Scope Matte Finish TrexPlex Reticle

For solid inexpensive mounts check out Primary Arms deluxe mount here http://primaryarms.com/product.sc;j...8D2E.qscstrfrnt06?productId=13&categoryId=220 for $25.

The best scope for the AR IMO is a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33, small looking very clear glass well made in Leupold factory I paid $125.
If I wanted more power think it would be the Burris Timberline 4-14x35 cost little over $200. I'm not a big fan of the tactical stuff prefer standard reticles.

I'm with DIM.

When it comes to glass, I spent almost as much on my scope as I did on my rifle. Accuracy aside, brightness, color rendition, focus sharpness is all too important to go with cheap glass. Shoot iron sights and save until you can get a decent scope.

I have no problem spending as much, or even more on glass, than what the rifle is worth. Look at it this way. If the rifle is a straight shooter, you'll never know if you use junk glass.

If I bought a $200 rifle, I wouldn't really mind spending as much as the rifle is worth either. But with the price of most quality guns these days, that's crazy talk. Thousand dollar scopes? I've never even seen a thousand dollar scope.

Also anyone with any other options I am still open to suggestions

Actually, DIM gave you the best options.

cheap and good doesn't go together well...

Pay attention to the Nikon link.

But, you decided to pick brands that most of us have never heard of. Good luck.

Standard scope?
Vortex Optics... Best bang for your dollar and best CS/ Unlimited Lifetime Guarantee to be had.
I have several of their products and their overall quality & glass rates with optics 2-3 times their price.

Best of Scope/RDS combined?
For the AR, I really like the Millet DMS 1-4x24.

Vortex would be a good choice but for the price range 100 - 150 it would leave you with Crossfire line, which is made in China, but DiamondBack and Viper are made in Philippines and cost more, the Razor are 2K scopes and they are made in Japan.

Hey I found you one its Vortex Viper 2-7x32 its on sale

I have become a pretty good fan of the Mueller line of scopes.
+1

I have shooting 7.62 rifles with a Mueller TAC II for several years. It's been swapped between several rifles and has been very durable, holds zero and is repeatable. Best $300 I have spent on glass.

For the AR the Mueller works great for longer ranges but for shorter work I have Nikon M223, at 1-4X20 it's small and light weight. I picked one up on sale with the Nikon 20moa mount for $250.

For now, anyhow, I have a Weaver K4 on mine. Easy one-MOA from the bench. Plenty good for a truck gun.

The Weaver K series are like the Energizer bunny, they just keep going and going. I have some K4's and K2.5's on mil-surps. More than adequate for 200yard shooting. Plus you can find them for next to nothing.

ChileRelleno,
I think those rings are designed to mount with the nuts on the opposite side. I had one set of them that the flats didn't line up as it should. Other than that they are the rings I prefer. Awesome blend of price & performance.

I have had very good luck with the three Nikon scopes I have. I also like the new Weaver scopes I have looked at but dont own one yet.

The Centerpoint's sold at walmart both the 3-9x and the 4-16x are very decent scopes for the money. Both Mil-dots too. the 3-9 is 55 bucks and the 4-16x is about 70 bucks. They both hold zero very well and very clear from 5 to 400 yards.

I have the 3-9x on my 10-22 which I commonly shoot from 50 to 200 yards with it and the 16x on my 308 which I normally shoot from 200+.

A friend of mine also uses the 16x on his 30-06 and holds zero really well. So either should be perfect for a AR-15.

I think that ive decided that the red dot that i have (Bushnell TRS-25) will do for now and save for an EOTech/Magnifier and swing away mount. Maybe, Ill get one for christmas.
