I was recently reading a thread and noticed several people mention their formal education levels. Just curoius what is your level of formal education. I think as a group it is likley higher than most people would think. The uniformed tend to think of gun owners as gang bangers or redneck high school drop outs.

Did you complete high school, some college, college degree, advanced degree, multiple degrees......
or one of the most demanding schools, the military..
B.A. in Business here

What's yours?

My highest degree is an MBA. I also am a CFA charterholder, which involves a fair amount of additional education. But, that's it -- I don't see any need (for me) to pile it higher and deeper.

I'm curious too... why do you care and what does it matter if you don't have a poll? There are what... like 10,000 members here and you just want to know in general?

I'll participate...despite that there's already a poll.

Graduated from grammar school.
Graduated from middle school (junior high school).
Graduated from high school.
Graduated from a city college (obtained Associates' Degree in Liberal Studies).
Graduated from college university (obtained Bachelor's Degree in Education).

Now working in the Sports Industry and love it; plus part time at a Gun Store/Range as an RSO.

Two hobbies that I love: Guns and Sports...and I get paid!

As my old Pappy used to say, " I went all the way thru school. In the front door and out the back window." That was back when they had one room school houses.

I have a BS & MS in Computer Science. I currently work as a computer security engineer if anyone can tell me what that is, I can't! It's just something they tell me to put on my business card to look good!

Just curious in general. I think there is a misperception about gun owners.

Nothing against Rednecks or high school drop outs, some of my relatives and freinds could be considered Rednecks, and did drop out, but there's nothing like fishing and shooting with them (not shooting at fish). Besides these guys would be the first to loan you their last dollar to help you out.

Education is extremely over rated. I finished one semester of city college, then dropped out and started a career. My wife (who was in her first year of UC when I dropped out) went on and received her BS. She currently makes $9working at a local shop related to her degree, while I... well let's say I pay the bills ;)

I know a lot of college graduates who have gone bankrupt, several more who can't write there own resume and even one, (who's now a CPA), who wished he had just worked construction. By now he'd make about the same amount of $$$ and he wouldn't be tied to a desk for 10+ hours a day.

Long story short, college is good if you plan to be a lawyer, doctor, etc. But what really counts is choosing a career that you WANT to be in and following your dream.

I were droppedd outin Kidregartun. But I are a good speler to.

Then there was the 3 years I spent in jail
(Deputy Sheriff)

Then the seven years in college.

And, tomorrow I got to Botswana for Cape Buffalo

C-ya!

I was originally a high school drop out. Got my diploma while I was stationed in Korea. I have completed hundreds of hours of college, but don't have a degree. I simply studied what I liked to study and have never needed or worried about specific credentials.

I also have multiple certificates in things such as EMT, phlebotomy, automotive electronics, jewelry construction, and numerous others. I have worked as a mechanic, a courier, a psychiatric technician (both with adults and children) and my all time favorite job was being a counselor at the Girl's Club (who wouldn't love a job that pays you to run around playing with kids all day long?).

I guess you can say I'm kind of a jack-of-all-trades, although I have mastered a few of them over the years. I even took two years of acupuncture school. I gave that up because I didn't really want to be an acupncturist, (I leave that to my wife), though I did graduate a massage school and work as a massage therapist until my back finally got too bad to keep it up (three years).

I spend a good amount of time jaw jacking with the folks at the museum and they all marvel that I don't have a degree in paleontology: I just tell them that it's just a matter of reading and learning the material. I've even put forth a couple of theories that have caught the attention of a couple of well known paleontologists who are now looking to find proof and swear they will give me credit when they write it up.

Now a days I'm writing books. You don't need a college degree to write fantasy and science fiction, just some basic education and a good imagination. Hopefully we will see "Dragon Fate" on the stands soon.

B.S. here, however, my Grandfather didn't make it past the 8th grade and taught me about guns and the outdoors. He had more knowledge than most I've known and will always be my roll model. I've seen those that could design a computer chip with no problem but almost had to be told when it was time to go to the bathroom. Education is a great thing but it shouldn't be used to judge people.

AS
BS
BA
MA
EdD

And I make about 1/4 as much as my brother in law with his HS diploma selling dog food (seriously, I make $38,000 teaching at small college and he makes $140,000 working for a dog food company).

I feel very stupid, sometimes.

BS in Pharmacy, 1968. A five year bachelors program, requiring credit hours nearing that of masters programs. Looks like basic degree in this profession is going to a Dr's. at most schools currently.

I dropped out after completing a bachelor's in math (CS minor), a 2nd bachelor's in electrical engineering, and a master's in electro-optics. Someday I hope to go back and finish.
