I was reading about the new Mk III 22/45 Hunter. I'm starting to feel the itch for it, but I have a question....

Does the MkIII 22/45 take the same magazines as the Mk II 22/45? I know the standard-grip models don't d/t the new mag release, but the 22/45's have always had the 1911-style release. Does the new one take the old mags?

Thanks in advance..... :D

Midway lists two different part numbers for the 22/45 and 22/45 Mark III magazines. It's hard to tell what the difference is, but it appears that the angle is different between the two.

If you are talking about the 22/45 and the 22/45 MKIII I have both and the mags interchange. Yes there are two different part numbers and there is an extra slot cut in the body above the mag catch notch so there is a visible difference, but I've no idea what the extra slot does. Unless something has changed with the guns since I got my 22/45 (late production, was discontinued soon after I got it) and my22/45 MKIII Hunter (early production, I bought the first one I saw) the mags interchange despite this extra slot.

If clarification is needed, let me know and I can post a photo in a day or two.

MKII mags (guns with the Luger-like grip angle) will not work in the MKIII because they lack the mag catch notch to lock in, MKIII mags will work in the MKII but its kind of a PITA as the mag catch notch likes to hang-up on the frame on the way out.

MKI/MII/MKIII mags have the small base plate, 22/45 and 22/45MKIII have the long baseplate, while the 22/45 grip is 1911-like, the magazine fits inside it at a Luger-like angle and the long baseplate helps hide this fact.
