From the article:

It also hasn't pleased opponents of gun ownership. Tio Hardiman, executive director of Cease Fire Chicago, told MyFoxChicago that bringing gun ranges into the city will encourage more people to start shooting.

Yeah, better to have people shooting at each other in the streets.

Quick ... somebody call THE DEVIL and tell him to check the thermometer and his furnace ... looks like HELL'S ABOUT TO FREEZE OVER!

I bet they'll regulate the hell out of them and none will survive under the chicago system.

1). As of August 1st, 2011, Private indoor shooting ranges will be legal to own and operate inside of the Chicago city limits.

2). As of July 31st, 2011, no firearms of any sort will be allowed inside of the Chicago city limits.

3). Have a nice day, suckers......

Well this is Chicago and the "system" is open to lots of things as long as you understand that there may come a time, when you must return the favor

Rahm did volunteer in the IDF (albeit fixing typewriters or some such) and his father had some experience as an Israeli paramilitary... so if it gains him some political points, then he might be a bit more open-minded to the concept than your typical gun-ignorant anti-gun activist.

Sounds to good to be true......their will probably be some sort of stipulation that it will be run by the Chicago Police for the sole purpose of those wishing to get their handgun permit in Chicago. Not open to rifles, shotguns, or any other type of firearm.

He will regulate something else to prevent the ranges from meeting requirements to actually open and conduct business or security forces will arrest every idiot who shows up in the city with a not allowed/illegal within city limits type firearm.

There is a catch somewhere, there always is.

They seriously have banned all types of firearms in Chicago? I thought Heller had something to say about that happening?

I suspect this.

You can have a gun range, but you can't transport guns because it isn't within the home.

I have a feeling that the idea behind this is to keep some of the revenue for the handgun permit courses in the city, rather than watching it all go to the burbs. Chicago loves money.

I'm guessing the applications might be stronger than expected, and the city wants to get it's share of the pie on this beyond their $100 application fee and $15 per gun registration fee.

Now Rahm is a gun guy and friendly to gun owners in his city.

That's turning a defnite defeat into a WIN.

This guy is good.

AFS

Nice sarcasm.

Seriously though, Rahm a gun guy???? Where have you been for the last few years, Rahm ain't no gun guy, and he's as cunning and deceptive as they come. Great traits for politicians and criminals, bad for everyone else.
