EMP vs STI Escort 9mm 1911

As a carry gun which would you prefer and why? How do you compare quality between the two. Are there any other 1911s in 9mm, this size, that compare in terms of outof the box reliability?

I think for me it comes down to my perception of the two companies. While I've never heard anything bad about STI, my perception is that all of their products seem way over priced.

While the EMP is not exactly inexpensive, Springfield Armory has many guns that are affordable and priced competitively.

I didnt vote as i would go with the new sig. There customer servive is outstanding. Even tho its a beta version. I would put 500 rounds into it. If there any problems. I would send it back to sig for a fix.

STI's are beautiful! Not even close as one poster mentioned in the sense STI all the way (for a single stack 9mm 1911)!!! Most people haven't even handle STI's. I have the predecessor (Rogue) and wouldn't trade it for an EMP any day.

The quality and individual craftsmanship an STI pistol shows!!! As for reliability, STI's are known as work horses and mine is no exception (I can't remember any failure of any kind). I imagine the EMP is reliable as well.

A little know fact is the Serial number will always have 2 initials of someone in the factory. Customer service is personal and they take care of you. PLUS!!! STI pistols have a lifetime warranty that follows the pistol not the owner.

You are getting a semi-custom production pistol when you go with STI. You might go to a 1911 forum and do the same poll.

Can't say I've handled the STI, but the EMP is one rock solid little 1911. You will not be disappointed by one.
