One option the OP might consider is the VLTOR Cluster Rail System offered through Springfield Armory. It gives you a full length Picitanny rail at 12 o' clock that stretches from the rear sight/stripper clip guide to the front of the stock. It's low enough to use irons when optics aren't mounted and allows the use of pretty much any optic, including scout setups. It also has smaller side rails at 3 and 9 o' clock and a removable bottom rail. This setup works with SA's medium contour barrels found on their Loaded models. I am considering having one installed on mine. I don't know the cost and it apparently is supposed to be installed by Springfield, but in terms of adding scope mounting options, it sounds like a decent choice.

I'll probably end up with something like a Horus 1.5-8 Blackbird or the IOR Valdada with the CQB reticule in the same power range on mine.

Boricua I guess it depends on the exact circumstances. My state requires "fear of grave bodily harm" and I suppose an armed tresspasser !could! Meet that definition. Howeve I wouldn't want to be hitting my nails while the jury decides whether they beloved the prosecuters "lost deer hunter shot in the back" story...
