I'm a big fan of Eotechs, but I am disappointed in my 516...going to have to call Eotech tomorrow and send it back for repair. Apparently the diffraction grating is starting to delaminate; I have a dead stripe in the right third of the window in which the reticle disappears. At first I thought it was just my glasses or head positioning, but now it's gotten to the point where it's pretty noticeable.

Anyone had any experience with Eotech customer service?

Fingers crossed!

I bought mine new from Bravo Company in March 2010, so it's barely 4 years old and hasn't seen hard use. I've heard that their customer service is good, so here's hoping!

Wow, that's crazy. I've never heard of that happening on an EOtech before. I'm sure they would gladly cover that though. Any idea on how that happened? Heat, moisture, etc?

Just an update...I got on Eotech's website and filled out a form, and they gave me instructions to send it back via UPS. They fixed it for free and the turnaround time was amazingly fast (probably same-day, judging from how fast I received the repaired sight). It is now like new.

So I'm a little disappointed that I encountered the (apparently rare?) problem, but their customer service is top notch.

I was having the same thing with a right out of the box EoTech. I cant remember the model, it is one of the short ones.

MY experience was not as good as yours. I emailed them at first because the whole circle and dots were so blurry it looked like I was 14 beers in. They gave me some line about how it will appear blurry if I am not looking through it correctly and focusing on the dots, not the circle. I advised them that this was my 3rd EoTech and I am aware of what it should look like and how to see thru it. I still got the same answers. I called and was told that it likely the way I was incorrectly looking thru it.

This EoTech replaced another EoTech that had stopped working becuase a short caused the batteries to overheat and leak acid inside of it and out causing damage to the finish of my rifle as well. When I contacted EoTech they told me without any investigation it was the batteries fault not the EoTech itself. They were very defensive about their product.

The battery company told me they have prevention systems in the batteries to keep this from happening and there was no way it was the fault of the battery. The provided data and information claiming why they had that opinion. They however offered to look into it and sent me a return label. I sent the battery company (I dont recall which one, Duracell or Energizer) the Eotech and the batteries and they had it for about 3 weeks. They sent me about a 5pg report on how they tested both items, what they did in the tests, what was normal and abnormal and why they concluded that the short to be with EoTech. Still EoTech was not interested in assisting and stood by the claim it was not their product that failed.

I told the battery company their claim and the battery company actually asked for a quote on the cost of the EoTech and repair to my rifle. I provided them one and a few weeks later I had a check in the mail from the battery company to replace the items damaged.

I used the money to buy an Aimpoint T1 Micro for one rifle and a Vortex SPARC for my 9mm rifle.

I prefer them both to the EoTech. The battery life is much better, the on and off switch isn't a huge pain to get to, they are clearer and easier to acquire a sight picture. They have better and more features and are much smaller in size.

I still have a 512 on one of my AR's but thats just because it doesn't hardly ever get shot.
