Look up Park Ranger Clyde Woods, Elephant Butte NM.
Shoots a tight group into the back of an unarmed transient man. I'm sorry but if it wasn't a LEO, he'd already be doing 30 years to life in prison. Woods gets 1 year house arrest with a bracelet. Talk about preferential treatment.

Park ranger gets seven years for fatal shooting

A former ranger at Elephant Butte State Park will spend a year on electronic monitoring for fatally shooting a man who refused to pay his permit fee.

District Attorney Scot Key says that Clyde Woods was sentenced Wednesday in state district court in Truth or Consequences to six years for voluntary manslaughter and given a seventh year for because of a firearm enhancement.

Key says, though, that all but one year was suspended. Woods will spend the remaining year under house arrest with an ankle bracelet and GPS locator.

Woods was charged with shooting Bruce Teschner on the evening of August 23, 2005, at a camp area at Elephant Butte State Park when Teschner refused to pay his camping fee.

No weapons were found on Teschner. Teschner’s family says that he was shot in the back.

nice spin sorta

2 shots is a tight group?

"'Everybody Was Afraid of Him', Cops Sought Man Killed at Butte (Albuquerque Journal)
Truth or Consequences trailer court owner William Martin said some of his last words to departing tenant Bruce Teschner on Tuesday (August 23, 2005) were that someone was likely to shoot him. "Everybody here was pretty much afraid of him. And I was constantly watching him," said Martin, an owner of the Artesian Bath House and Trailer Court. He said Teschner hadn't paid for his month long stay at the court and pulled out early Tuesday evening after being asked to leave on Monday.

A Sierra County Sheriff's Department report said Teschner was arrested at a Williamsburg RV park on June 6 for disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. "I had to order him to kneel down several times to avoid a physical confrontation," the sheriff's sergeant wrote in his report. "At my (patrol vehicle), Bruce refused to get inside and I had to force him in."

A former girlfriend earlier this month filed a court restraining order against Teschner, claiming he was dangerous and "displayed extremely (erratic) behavior." And the very day he was killed, Truth or Consequences police obtained a misdemeanor arrest warrant for him after he allegedly harassed a teenage girl in hopes of getting her to pose for nude photographs."

harve? any further comment to you would be lowe road sorry someone hadfa shoot your buddy sure you'll miss him

Cassandra,
Fire away with your lowe road comments if thats all you got.. Two shots close together under stress at approximatley 15' is good shooting, another went wild into someones yard though. I didn't know the guy. But shooting a unarmed man who is walking away, albiet a disturbed man, is not justified.
I posted this when it happened on THR and there was fresher news then. The state parks, state police, and responding police didn't support this shoot.
The point is that Average Joe Citizen would have done hard time on similar circumstances and I don't care who you are, that ain't right.

Seems like a major overreaction, but I wasn't there either. JT

"Charles Teschner Jr., who is from Boulder, Colo., and his sister, Florida resident Nancy Richardson, said in telephone interviews that their brother was a jeweler for decades and worked in Boulder. They said he was a peace activist and conscientious objector during the Vietnam War.

"He was never a violent person," Richardson said Monday. But she said his behavior changed in recent months after he stopped taking antidepressant medication"

I'll say, trying to get a teenager to pose for nude pics. Another post said he had a blood alcohol reading of .17. JT
