I may get waaaayyyy flamed for this, but I am a big boy and won't cry to my momma ( at least not without a bunch of tissues to dab my eye)
So...Here goes:
I believe that we all should support the NRA. I know, I know...there are a million reasons not to. But, millions reason too belong. I do not want to see something like this happen here..
EVER!!! I am a 35 year old and have been a member for about 12-14 years. I cowboyed up a few years back and took advantage of there Charlie Heston become a life member for a reduced rate. Even the reduced rate was hard financially at the time. But, I believed in the cause and never want to have this here. This summer, I signed up my daughter(15 years old) for a life membership. I am in the process of signing up 2 of my God-Children. Is it expensive = Heck yes! Is it worth it......it is to me!
Do what you can to afford it and sign up. Skip a couple of pizzas, buy 2 less cases of beer, drive a few miles less, etc. The price we may end up paying...may be far higher.
Side note: On our hunting trip this past weekend, my daughter and I watched "Saving Private Ryan". My daughter had a lot of questions, and we had a great discussion. She asked how these young men could do what they did, how could they gather the courage to go on? I was hard pressed to give a good answer. I finally said "These young men thought so much of our country and its people, that they were willing to fight and die so that you and I can enjoy the rights and freedoms that we have today. This is why I signed you up for the NRA. They are fighting for our right and freedom to bear arms." I explained the Purple Heart, and that these are the people who signed your Legacy Life Membership Certificate. Needless to say, this child had a brand new understanding of rights and freedom!
Sorry for the rambling.................
