Ever forget that you had bought something?

... As of late, I have learned to go up and check my inventory first.
Hahaha. I started doing that several years ago, especially, when I came across a good/great sale on magazines. The number of times I ran downstairs to do a quick-count on my AR-15 mags <sigh> only to return to the 'puter to just move along ... usually. ;)

Oh, and I never have to check inventory level on G3/HK91 mags after I took up TAPCO on a sale that they had 20 years ago for VG/LN Alloy mags (50 for $50 ... a perfect fill for a particular Priority Mail box ... I bought 2 :))

... and, yes, the paucity of magazines during the AWB affected me MUCH more than I ever suspected. :uhoh:

"Ever forget that you had bought something?"
I haven't forgotten that I bought a stuck case remover way back when. But I have forgotten where it is - because just like most of those "just in case" items I've bought over the years, I've never needed it (yet). ;)

I am usually in a position to forgot what I ordered or purchases when it comes to vinyl albums. I'm a collector, and have thousands of albums. It's almost impossible to remember what I already have when I get to the record store, and sometimes I buy albums that I already have. I've done this a few times.

With regard to reloading;
I'm currently re-opening my reloading bench that has sat idle since 2006. Most of the hardware (presses, dies and similar) for the bench were purchased in the early to mid 90s, so the hardware alone is beyond my recollection of purchase, and I was surprised to see what I had after all these years. In about 2002, I bought a bunch of brass, bullets, primers and powder. I mean a big bunch. As I'm going through my inventgory now, 16 years later, I am shocked at how much of some components I have. I probably have enough 9mm components to keep me busy for many months of reloading. Unfortunately, I sold my 9mm and 380 firearms over 10 years ago, so I'll probably have to get one 9mm handgun just to use the components up.

I have to start a spreadsheet for my inventory. Otherwise it's going to stay out of hand.

I obviously don't have near enough of anything, as I never find anything cool that I forgot about.
I’m not even sure how many guns I have. According to the book I used to keep updated (occasionally) I got somewhere between 100-150 long guns and around 100 handguns divided up into four 45-gun safes, a 34-gun safe, three desks, two file cabinets and my wife’s personal documents safe that I don’t have the combo for. I’m thinking that’s probably a little high considering how many guns I’ve sold the last three years and how few I’ve bought since I started selling. It’s not just getting old, it’s what happens to your memory after a bunch of concussions and surgeries. That ketamine stuff just hits me real hard.

Yeah I have 6 total at my house and maybe 15 at my parents that I rotate so we're not even close. 8 of those total are 22s so no reloading for those....

I cast bullets for my rifles. The day after I ordered a Lyman M die for 22-250 I discovered I already had one. Not a problem. I use the spare for 223. Made me feel stupid at the time.

I have, not one, but two of the inexpensive Lee case trimmers for .300Blk.

I've never owned or even seen a .300Blk case. Not too sure what's up with that.

I also recently found a brand new, unopened, 500ct box of Starline 10mm brass that have to be at least 10 years old

Kinda happy about that.

Just yesterday I bought two pounds of frozen shrimp to make Shrimp & Andouille Jambalaya , open the freezer to put them up and I'm staring at 4 pounds already in there ...Sheeesh , where did those shrimp come from ... the Shrimp Fairy must have visited and left them !

yeah, but when it is a present you left for yourself to find - it eases the concern about not remembering. not like it was gift for a relative, and you forgot to give it to them ... lol

I hadn't really forgotten that I had bought components. I had powder and primers ready to load. But when things started getting crazy with primers, powder etc. I realized I needed to inventory what I had. I had several boxes that I'd ordered from powder valley but had never opened them because I didn't need the components right then. That was dumb because what if the order was wrong?

So I opened them up and had quite a few 4 and 8 pounders of powder and several cases of primers. I remembered the last time I ordered primers that I didn't really need them at the time but went ahead and bought them. Obviously I'm glad I put in those last orders before prices started going up. I have traded small pistol primers for large rifle I needed for my 45-70. Who knew things would get as crazy as they did? I sure didn't.

I gave up on 10mm there for a while. I got rid of the Delta Elite and was just getting satisfied with 357 mag as my only heavy hitter in the handgun realm. I packed up to move and found a stash of once fired brass, 4 boxes of factory ammo, and a set of dies. There were about 200 Berrys truncated cone 180s tucked into the voids in the boxes. Shortly after I moved I got another 10mm. This one ain’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact I showed it to a guy today who was looking for a 10mm for about a grand or less, he bought 3 of the basic GI rock islands and g10 grIps in different colors. Said he would have one, so would pops and junior.

I want a 10 but I have no idea why they compare them to 357. 9 vs 357 41mag vs 10mm.

When’s dinner? :D
Love me some jambalaya! Prefer with mud bugs but shrimps will do fine.

There isn't a day that goes by I don't find something I had forgotten about. A couple of days ago I found 2,000 once fired .357 cases, no idea where the hell they came from.

Those are the ones you forgot to mail to me. I was wondering what happened to them. ;)

I couldn't find my RCBS 30/06 dies so I called a friend and bought another set. He mailed them out yesterday and they came in today.
I found my set last night so now I have two sets.

I need to buy more Hornaday Lock n Load bushings.
