Ever get your guns out and just hold em

I got my Colt Delta back from Heirloom Precision yesterday. I've been without her for almost two years. When I opened the box I *might* have even whispered a sweet nothing or two. :)

Nope...don't have time...I'm usually too busy wiping them down, checking their weight and balance, and all that other stuff...lol

I shoot the hell out of my guns but sometimes I pull out my Glock 17 and just marvel at it's combination of simplicity, ugliness and effectiveness. Ok...I fondle the other guns too.

Must not get the urge to buy a new gun must fight urge

Yea, I know what you mean. It usually starts by logging on to THR

Read a few threads...

Here's a good thread... Someone bought a new gun, range report, with pics!

Another thread: What's this? CZ won't be putting out the CBOB next year? Hmm, I've been wanting one. Don't need it, just want it.

Now, however, there's a sense of urgency. Reading further into the thread someone says "Glad I got it when I did". The urge builds... Another comment, prices will be going up. Heart rate accelerates.

Now I'm thinking "Where did I last see one in stock? Was it Bud's? One of the local shops had one a while back, I wonder if they still have it? I'll give them a call in the morning..."

OK, gotta chill... Reach back and unholster the XD, drop the mag and rack the slide. That sound alone starts the cool down. Grip the slide and lock it back... chamber check, all clear. Release the slide. Feeling better. Get a good grip... Yeah, she feels good in the hand. Point, dry fire, all calm. :)

THR convinced me I needed a revolver. It's on hold and I will pick it up in a few weeks. I started looking at the rifle board and my gf started to proactively explain what will not be happening in my future if there is a rifle in my future.

I admit it, I touch my guns when nobody is around:eek:

I live alone and in an apartment so the only gun that I keep loaded 24/7 is my ccw. All my other guns are kept unloaded in the safes with the loaded mags stashed in a drawer nearby. Of course even though I know my guns are unloaded the first thing I do when I pluck one from the safe is check the chamber carefully, once I'm positive the gun is unloaded then I enjoy its company for a while. I know the old saying a gun is always loaded and for the most part I agree wit that statement, but I'll admit that I don't always practice what I preach.

I have a tendency to watch movies and tv with guns. I don't think I've ever watched Blackhawk Down without my AR next to me and my PS90 was there with me throughout the entire Stargate SG1 and Atlantis series:cool:

I miss my guns, can't hold them right now, deployed to Iraq, but I think three or four times a week I'll look at pictures of the family, pictures of the house, and before I go to bed I'll stare at pictures of my handguns for alittle while.

But when I am home, yes, I enjoy taking them out (especially the shotgun) rack the slide to make sure they are cleared, let the slide foreward, take up a firing position and dry fire once or twice. Just gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling, know what I mean.

Yes, and not just the pistolas. I regularly handle the rifles as well. How will you perform well with a firearm you are not very familiar with? The more you handle them, the better.

Oh yeah, whenever I can...as often as I can. I like to stroke the gun, put some oil on it, and shine it up real good. It gives me peace of mind, especially when there so many A-holes trying to make me a criminal for just owning and enjoying them.

I sometimes switch the grips around, and always make sure they are lubed. Often I find myself wondering how those despicable politicians can justify themselves.

Those poor jerks don't know what they are missing...pass the Hoppes...

I had to go shopping no Dan Wessons in town but they did have a couple of Sigs and since this has gotten sort of pervish I am holding one and have one in my pants and I'm not telling which is where. And yes it feels gooooooooooooooooooooooood.
