Every firearm you've HAD but no longer do

I've sold many guns because I'd buy them cheap. fix them up and sell them for a profit. Those weren't "my" guns as much as they were project guns. I did sell a few that I bought for me and didn't like for various reasons:

Glock 27 - Didn't like how the Glock fit me.
Glock 33 - See above but tried again. Sold for same reason. Also needed mortgage money.
S&W M&P9c - Sold to buy a HK P7. Nice gun
Llama .40S&W - Sold to buy the same HK P7. Worked very well.

After 57 years of gun trading, buying and selling I might be able to remember if I ever owned some particular gun or model, but there's no way I would even take the time to try to make a list. (It would be in the thousands)

I only keep a record of purchases I actually take home. I used to buy and sell for sport at gun shows and many of these guns never even left the show. I keep track of most that I have for a while, but see little reason to make a long list. Many are great firearms. I barely remember some of them other than I see them on my list.

Zero. I've never sold one.

(Ok there WAS a Remington Nylon 66 in Mowhawk Brown I was supposed to buy back from my dad. I didn't live up to my end of our agreement with making payments so it was sold off to a family friend.)

In no particular order...

Calico M100S -- stolen by gunshop
Feather AT-9 -- " " "
NAA Mini Revolver " " "
(trusted the shop owner, put the guns in to sell on consignment, he sold them, never called me, filed bankruptcy, out of business...expletive deleted)
Feather AT-22 -- never knew a round it would chamber and fire
FEG SA-85M AKM -- needed cash and still crying over it today
Norinco SKS -- so poorly balanced, bugged the stuffing out of me
Egyptian Hakim -- one ugly rifle
Remington 1100 -- needed cash, dang it!
Winchester Big Bore '94 -- have I said needed cash, yet?
Steyr-Hahn -- too big for a paperweight
Ruger SP101 -- best 9mm ever, traded up
Ruger GP100 -- don't know what happened to it
Colt Government Model Series 70 -- oops, where is this?
NAA Mini Revolver -- gave/sold to a friend
Ruger P85 -- don't know why
Sterling .25 -- POC
Iver Johnson .32 S&W breaktop -- lost in parent's attic somewhere in the insulation and couldn't find even with rented metal detector
Walther P22 -- to buy Radom P-64
Glock -- unknown

Really miss the FEG, Winchester, and Remington...nice, nice guns.

I have purchased or traded for 72 firearms in the last twenty years. One was stolen, four were given to my father, two were given to my uncle, thirteen are in my safe and the rest went the way of the DoDo..........no regrets, they are just things. I have never seen a Uhaul chasing a hearse! ;)

I can't even begin to get anywhere near an accurate list. They come, they go, I upgrade, I lose interest. Now, gone and regretted... to date, not a one.

:what::what: Wouldn't that work out to be several a month, every month for 57 years

Wow

Sure.....Ruger Mini 14, Lee-Enfield SMLE, Charter Arms AR7, H&R Topper .410, Beretta Bobcat .22.....Gave them all to my son.
Remington 1903A3. Traded for a Winchester model 59.

Ruger 10/22 - Used as down payment on a 4x4 while camping. Beat the other guys offer because I had something to put as a down payment. (HIM) "Whichever one of you gives me money first, gets the truck." -- (ME) "Hey, do you like my gun?" Bought another one, exactly the same.

HK USP 9mm Compact - Sold to buy another truck. Bought it to replace my XD, and liked the XD better. This gun +$200 bought the truck I've been driving since '08.

Working on trading my Judge for a 1911, maybe tomorrow. :)

Like someone else said, guns are just things. Except for the few guns I inherited from my dad and grandfather, and my first gun, I have no emotional attachment to any of my guns.

I do have a complete list though, sort of like my own "bound book." Plus I never sell or trade a gun without a bill of sale.

Maverick 88. My first gun. Got it from a coworker for for a great price, never fired it, traded up (gun + cash) for a 590 a few weeks later.

Ruger 10/22. Would FTE with factory mags & any ammo I cared to feed it. Sold it for a loss (with full disclosure) to a smith who said he could probably fix it.

S&W J-frame .38. Picked it up for a CC piece, but discovered that I shoot small frame revolvers exceptionally poorly. Traded it in for a small frame auto instead.

S&W J-frame .22. This was the gun that convinced me that no matter how many rounds I sent downrange, small frame revolvers just aren't for me. Sold it on Gunbroker for a slight loss.

Glock 27. I like .40 in a full size gun. Not so much in a subcompact. Sold it to a friend for a fair price and replaced it with a Glock 26.

No regrets.

kcshooter,
that's awesome, finally a uhaul chasing a hearse. I have been using that line for years to ease the guilt. After seeing that pic and looking at my complete list of bygone firearms, I now wish to be creamated when I die! :neener:

Sold (all in last 12 months, 1st sales in 25 years of accumulating):

-Ruger New Model Single Six in .32 H&R Mag. Got $495 for it (less 15%) and wanted a more commong caliber.

-CZ70 in 32 ACP, functioned well, a few FTE, loud and inaccurate (at least in my hand)

-ADCO Vela 12 ga. O/U, my first trap gun, sold for an upgrade. It worked fine, had a laminated stock that bugged me.

-Llama IXB in 45 ACP, sold because I knew it wasn't a robust gun. Also, bit the web of my hand and wasn;t worth customizind (it's a non-standard 1911 platform)

Consigned:

-Taurus Model 85 (I bought two "'cause I got a deal")

Next to sell:

-Franchi Al-48 12 ga. long-recoil semi-auto with shortend (13") LOP. I bought it for a project gun, then came across a beautiful A-5 for $350 that fit me well.

-Remington 1100 trap model w/three barrels. Bought on-line via auction and innards were torn up, as was forestock. I'm probably going to repair it so that I don't get killed trying to sell the parts!

-Taurus PT-101 40 S&W. Bought it during the frenzy for hi-caps in early 2009. Thought I'd like the bright SS, rosewood grips and gold trigger, hammer and slide release. Now, I call it my "Pimp Daddy Special" and want to move it to somebody that won't be sheepish about showing it at the range. I have a PT-92 that I like just fine.

The list is much longer but three I regret letting go were:

2" S&W Model 64, just a bit bigger than a J frame but much easier to shoot.

4" Colt Commando, was brand new never used.

Pre-war Polish Radom in excellent condition.

Heck, I can't even remember all of the guns I have owned over the past six decades, much less the ones I've sold or traded.
As to 'WHY'.......if I can't remember 'WHAT' they were in the first place, I surely would not remember 'WHY'.

.

Only one, Ruger single six with both cylinders to a good friend for what I had in them. No regrets, it wasn't as accurate as I built up in my mind, he knew it and was fine with it.

Remington Model 11 in 16-gauge - My dad bought it off me so I can still shoot it any time I want. I sold it to him so I would have the money to go to Talledega. :banghead:

Winchester 1400 in 20 gauge - It was a good enough gun, but easily replaced. Went down the gun trade trail

Revelation .30-30 - Good gun, but another easily replaced. Used the funds for another gun purchase.

Ruger GP100 - Don't even want to talk about that one. It pains me to even type it. It was traded, and I've regretted it since about five minutes after the trade.

Smith and Wesson Sigma 40VE - Good riddance. I always defended it and said it was a good enough gun for the money, until I shot a Sig Sauer SP2022. Not much more money but a world of difference in quality. I now own one in place of the Sigma.

Remington 11-87 SP - Good shotgun, but I hardly ever shoot a shotty. My Savage 20-gauge pump will do anything I need to do with a shotgun. Went towards another gun purchase.

Not much to regret for me, except the GP100. Man, that was stupid.

Armi San Marco 1858 Remington, Nickel with 24k gold plated finish, completely engraved. -It was my first safe queen, never fired it, and I sold it to fund my first 1911 to celebrate getting my carry permit, no regrets!

Brass-frame 1858 Remington with 12" bbl, tough times and I had other black powder guns I will never get rid of, sold to fun rent/utilities :barf:

Steel frame 5.25" bbl 1858 Remington with .45lc conversion cylinder
, sold it to fund my 2nd 1911, which is really sweet. The '58 was also really sweet and I wish I could have afforded to keep it and buy the 1911, but if I had to choose one I'm happy with the decision I made :)

7.5" bbl Ruger Super Blackhawk .44mag with poly-choke vent-rib
this gun is my #1 regret having to part with. But again, I'd make the same call if I had to go back and re-think it, I sold it to be able to afford a NIB S&W 629-2 'mountain revolver' .44 mag. I can always get another Super Blackhawk when the financial situation is better, but I really wanted that S&W, and it was in such great shape, I miss the Ruger, but definitely plan to get another when I can.

Navy Arms/Pietta Griswold & Gunnison brass-frame .44
I still have a few other black powder guns, and I never really shot this one much, so I sold it and put the $$ towards ammo and mags

and last but certainly not least my Wildey Survivor 8" bbl .45 Win-mag I bought it when I was making a lot more money, it was worth too much, and shot too seldom to keep when tough times came. When I'm doing better I think I'll replace it with a LAR Grizzly :)

As a collector I try to BUY more than sell, but it happens -kicks self-

Stoeger Uplander Supreme/ wanted a double trigger SXS
Old Marlin 22 bolt gun/ needed money
870 Wingmaster/ needed money
Mosin Nagant/ sold to a friend

The only gun

I ever got rid of was a really nice post WW2 Winchester Garand. I gave it to my sons name sake, and old Marine.
