Yup. Rifled slugs out of a smoothbore barrel. Sabot slugs out of a rifled barrel. You can also shoot sabot slugs if you have a rifled choke screwed into a smoothbore barrel.

i can shoot rifled slugs out of a Mossberg 500 correct?

There's a difference between "can" and "should". You can fire rifled slugs out of your 500 as long as its chambered for the gauge and shell length you want to shoot. There are several different types of slugs and the rifled type that you buy is for smooth bores and best used with an open choke so if you have interchangeable chokes then using the "improved cylinder" insert is preferable, the "modified" choke is barely passable and you shouldn't fire slugs if using a "full choke" as you can damage the barrel or choke. If you have a short riot barrel they generally have cylinder bore or no choke and are set up for buckshot and slugs as is.

Sabot slugs should be used in shotgun barrels that are rifled or those with a rifled choke insert.

and you shouldn't fire slugs if using a "full choke" as you can damage the barrel or choke.

Not basically correct - the rifling on the slug will compress through a full choke. It is safe, however, better accuracy tends to be achieved with an IC or M constriction.

As mentioned do not fire 3" ammo in a gun labeled for 2-3/4

+1

A Forster style rifled slug is smaller then a Full choke to begin with.

And it has vanes (or rifling) molded into the slug to allow it to compress further if it needs too.

Folks have shot them in full choke shotguns since they were invented in the 1930's with no harm / no foul to the full choke.
And back then, shotguns had way thinner muzzle walls then they do now that almost everything is rated for steel shot.

The only thing you can't shoot through a tighter choke is round "pumpkin balls" that are already bore diameter and solid lead.
