Hey everyone- came across this product while idly googling the other day. Anyone have one or have any experiences negative or positive?

I have a couple standard config 1911's that having the option of adding a rail for a weapon light would be pretty cool. I don't care for the looks of many newer models with the integral rail, would be nice to have the option of taking it on and off, without having to change grips or add some kind of external frame like some other options i've seen.

Very interesting that so many entities have "tested and approved" this thing. Last I checked, SEALS have been using SIGs, HK's, and more recently Glocks, and have not used 1911's probably since before I was born. I was in Special Forces, and I never heard of this thing. There is another adaptor out there that I can't remember the name of- it incorporates the grips with a front strap into a rail under the dust cover. It seems well made and sturdy.

I bought a PT1911AR specifically because it had the rail, for the same reason. I've shot it twice with something on the rail; Once with the Laser Lyte V3, and once with a Guide Gear copy of a Streamlight. And then there is the fact that none of the holsters for 1911's, even the ones for railed guns, don't fit it. Nice in theory, but in reality, ask yourself how often you'd really use it.
At least that one comes off when you don't need it. I would worry about marring the finish, if I actually worried about that.
