Looking at Springfield 1911's the Loaded series, i.e. PX9152LP, P19132LP
PX9628LP
I would like to have a stainless 1911 w/ fully Adj. Sites 5" barrel and Picatinny rail but the rail isn't absolutley a must have.
Would consider other brands in or around the $700 to $1000 price range.
S&W or even Kimber possibly if the price didn't get way out there.

Thanks
;)

Just a hint; You should have something in the title like "looking to buy or want to buy". Also you don't give your location....
Are you looking to buy a 1911 online or from a private sale?

I just got a mil spec Springfield. I wanted a pretty basic one to start and have no complaints at all. Great gun. Super solid. I will get a loaded later on probably. They are all just sweet guns. You will have no regrets I am sure.

Dan Wesson is gona run ya a ton more than a Loaded, and Springfield is a name i trust, i own a Loaded in 9mm and a TRP, both are excellent guns id trust my life to either

I just picked up a Springfield MIL Spec 1911 and man what a pistol right out of the box. I've managed to put about 200 rounds through it so far without issue and it keeps getting smoother. I've shot some 1911's that have been worked and the Springfield comes real close. The trigger is nice and sharp with a relatively lite pull and accuracy is dead on. I say buy a Loaded series, you won't be dissappointed.

Now to start modding my own.

I have a Black Stainless Loaded. Springfield did an action job and it is a shooter. If I had to choose between my Gold Cup and Springer I think I would keep the Loaded.
BTW, SA's customer service is great. They handle issues accurately and timely.

you'll prolly pay 3 hundred more for a Dan Wesson PM7 with "Arguably" better quality over a Springer Loaded,

Locally, the price difference between the DW and a Springfield Loaded target is ~$100. if you factor in that the DW has now MIM, and uses Ed Brown parts, the extra $100 is well worth it. also the DW's are fit better than the Loaded's. a better fitting Springfield would be the Trophy Match, but it still has MIM and costs more than the DW.

not bashing Springfield, i own quite a few, just putting another option out there for the OP, since he's looking for stainless, adjustable sights, 5", and rail.

I also own both and would agree with Quak. You won't go wrong with either, but for $100 more the DW would be the better value. :)

Gosh, I really hope all 1911 manufacturers are reading these forums.

I'd like to see everyone move away from MIM and plastic in their 1911's as they begin to see that 1911 buyers are more discriminating and knowledgeable about gun making materials than other gun buyers.

you know...i don't think there is even a non-cast bevertail grip safety available for the 1911 that isn't cast. some are just nicer than others

i don't think there is anything wrong with MIM, it is just about finish machining and QC

The Springfield stainless loaded is an awesome gun. I got mine recently for just under $800. The most accurate handgun I own. Tight tolerances and pretty grips. There is one small but annoying flaw. The slide release lever is impossible to reinsert unless you slip a piece of plastic between its knob and the plunger. Besides that, this is a tremendous gun at a very good value.

Thanks for all the info. After looking at some today I've narrowed it down to these three
PX9151LP w/o adj. sights
P19132LP exactly the same gun but w/ adj sights
or the P19140LP w/ adj. sights plus other enhancements and polish

Oh the decisions we must make. Of course this last pistol mentioned takes you right into the price range of the Kimber's what slipperly slope this becomes

P19140LP...you'll be happier with it IF you want the front strap checkered and a magwell. it's also fit a little bit better than the standard Loaded's and is basically a Target version of the TRP.

with the Kimber, you must decide it you like/dislike the Swartz safety in your gun, and can you deal with Kimber's Customer Service (many people say horrible) in the event that you have a problem with the gun.

Update - I put some hand loads together today and found a winner in my Springfield MIL Spec. 11gr AA#7, 200gr lead swc bullets. At 25 yards it shot a 0.95" 4 shot group...yeah I pulled one high, my fault. The Springfield is one accurate 1911 out of the box!

I just bought a like new P19132LP and love it. I didn't want one with adjustable sights but the price was only $700 and it had never been fired and came with everything as from the factory. The previous owner had put a nice magwell and mainspring housing on it so I figured that was worth another $75 of value.

Took it shooting and it ate everything, WWB, Wolf, etc., and was way accurate.

I would like to find a rear site blade that is rounded on the corners.

Patrick

Go to the springfield site. The custom shop can upgrade your gun.

I own a Springfield Loaded, for a little over 700 I can send it back to them and they make it a TRP.

I have had the gun for 6 years, so its more expensive than buying the better gun, but I can get into it, then upgrade.

Check them out to update what ever you buy, the price list is online.

I picked up the Springfield 1911 PX9151LP today, stainless w/ cocobo grips looks and feels nice. In the box was a coupon for the adjustable sights for $29 so I'll be ordering them soon. Just need to hit the range now and make sure it goes boom.
Thanks for all the good information guys.

Later
