A week ago at Gander Mountain I did a hugely bone-headed thing. I let a used S&W model 17 with just some slight muzzle wear slip through my fingers. They only wanted $300. plus tax. My brain must have been on vacation. I've gotten some really good buys on used Smiths at Gander in the past, (Model 19-5 and a Model 63). But not this time! Anyway this evening a fellow club member mentions he has two used Smiths for sale. A stainless model 60 and a model 19-3 in nickel or stainless? I'm not sure as I have not seen the pictures yet? I told him to give me a price on both. My question is did S&W make the model 19 in nickel or stainless? I thought that the stainless version was the 66? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

best regards,

Luis Leon

P.S. What would be a fair offer on these two Smiths, if in very good condition?

Yes, that's generally true, BUT there are some model 19s in both stainless and nickel. It's not common, but also not rare enough to add any particular value. Here's an example on gunbroker.

Well, I just sold ( traded actually ) a stainless model 60 LS in Ulster County actually .. in the Gander Kingston parking lot is where the deal went down actually... heh

Anyway, here's the thread so you can see what I asked for the 60LS. I was told I didn't ask enough actually. Normally the model 19 should probably be somewhere between 300-400, though the current market has pushed them a little higher.

Since you obviously like the smiths, I figured I'd mention I still have that model 36 in this thread if you're interested.

P.S. Just out of curiosity what club are you a member of ? I'm with High Woods up here in Saugerties.

The model 19 was only offered in blue or nickle. The one on gunbroker is nickle. The 66 was the stainless one.

hexidismal,

Thank you for your reply. I will wait until my bud gets back to me with a price for both pieces. If this deal falls through I might consider that model 36. I belong to Marbletown Sportsmen Club in Stone Ridge. For some reason I could not get access to the link your provided about your 60 LS. If I may ask what did you sell it for? You can send me a private message if you don't want to respond online.

best regards,

Luis Leon
