How do you take the bolt out of the carrier? I have a STG-58, will a L1A1 bolt & carrier run in my metric rifle? I guess they have the sand cuts in the carrier.

How do you take the bolt out of the carrier?

turn the B/BC upside down, press in on the tail of the firing pin, and pull the front of the bolt up and out.

Yes but when you swap the bolt, you need to check the headspace. Any combination of metric/inch, bolt/bolt carrier works as long as the headspace is in spec.

I guess they have the sand cuts in the carrier.

The inch carriers are sand cut. Real inch receivers have corrisponding sand cuts also. The metric B/BC's are more expensive/desireable for some reason. I have a chromed, sand cut, bolt carrier on my metric FAL.

Be very careful about Indian B/BC's, they do not interchange with anything.
