don't underestimate this enemy and believe none of what the media's talking heads are telling you or showing you. maybe it will be a cake walk through iraq maybe not. if it is, have we snuffed out the terrorist organizations? where do we go from there? want to help the war effort? try mass transit and pooling up to conserve fuel. reduce our need for the oil. watch the gas prices go down.

Far be it from me to underestimate the enemy. But I certainly fail to see how that would be a useful expendature of ammunition.
If you get enough of them together in their greens, they'll look like an oasis.

i'm guessing...
i'm only guessing,,,
that the tactic you're seeing here is designed to create lots of noise and confusion and give the illusion of a much larger force and possibly for diversion.
granted, they could have picked a somewhat more formidable looking soldier to demonstrate said tactic...
but, and this is a big but,,,is it possible we are being fed this particular image and others like it to generate these feeling that they haven't got a chance and it's going to be a turkey shoot.
the answer to this lies in the people of iraq, do they truly feel they want to be liberated by us and will welcome us into baghdad with open arms or will they consider us an invader and resist us with a long protracted guerilla war. if the latter proves true there will be no walking on cake. the strategy is to drain our treasury any way possible and the above mentioned protracted war will do just nicely for that purpose. you can not win and hold a population in it's homeland unless that population is on your side. especially when they are fanatical enough to blow themselves up so they can take out a few of you.
and that's right,,,you don't lead the fat ones so much...

Unfortunately he looks a lot like many of us keyboard commandos would, if called upon tomorrow to don a uniform and defend our country.
Right or wrong in our eyes, he is doing exactly what we would do in his circumstance..

the aussies and the new zealanders fought the italians and had great respect for their abilities as fighters.
and, in retreat, the old worn out and or wounded guys that can't make it any farther are the ones who settle in and do their best to hold off the oncoming forces so you young pups can get away to fight and love another day.
