I use my Ruger Mk2, im looking to get laser grips for it when I have extra money, the rifle I use is a Winchester 62A.... oh yea ol pump action 22 I can drive a nail with that thing.

My personal favorite would be this one

It's a Western Field, built by Mossberg. I obtained it back in '72 or '73 from a fellow who needed some $$, think I gave him $20 for it.

favorite? As in most fun to shoot?

A very old Winchester Model 52D target bolt action, with Lyman aperture sight. 1/4 inch groups with Eley Tenex and RWS R50. 1/2 inch groups with Remington hi-speed and CCI mini-mags.

My absolute favorite .22lr rifle is my trusty CZ 452. For a mere $179.00 it shoots better than it has any right to. I've been neglecting the rest of my collection because I can't stop shooting my CZ...

Jackanape,

you are the second person I've ever known to use that word (me being the other)...good on ya.

"Knaves, varlets, and jackanapes!"

Swamp Yankee,

you absolutely MUST get 'The Winchester Model 52: Perfection In Design' by Houze. I think Brownells has it, or Amazon. You'll love it.

Its a toss up. My Marlin Model 60, or my Remington Nylon 66.

When I bought the Marlin, evryone recommended the 10/22 because of all the add-on and aftermarket parts. I liked the feel and fit of the model 60 a bit more. I haven't had a regret yet. It never fails to impress me, and at only $129 new with synthetic stock and Williams FireSights from the factory I couldn't pass it up.

As for ammo, the CCI Mini Mags or the Federal Premium(?) are what both of mine prefer. I'm sure they'll digest just about anything. The only ammo I've had a problem with is the Winchester X-Pert (500rd brick for $7.00) It jammed in the Marlin about every other round. Its shorter than a typical .22lr and wouldn't feed correctly.

The problem with the model 60

is that till 7 montha ago I lived in NJ . There its considered an "Assult Rifle" (holds over 15 rounds don't cha know) and possision was/is a felony!

I sold the old M60 and am now into the Remington rifles.
Heres my new 597 with mossy oak stock with Bushnell 3-9x40.

That about sums it up for me as well! Although mine cost me $189! The only 22 rifle I owned that was probably more accurate was a Sako Finnfire Varmint that was $675 at the time. And even then , the accuracy between them was so close!

favorite

a nearly 40 yr. old marlin 39a carbine.
cci mini mags (i like the plastic boxs for storing small parts etc.)

Rupestris,I agree. The Winchester X-pert rds are terrible in my Marlin m60. All other rds work fine. My m60 likes the Federal Gold bulk pack and CCI Stingers.

Ps mine is only a 14 rounder also. Whats up with this 17round m60?

My Marlin 60 will hold 17 LR rounds if you count the one in the chamber. But, it's probably not a good idea to keep the tube loaded for an extended period with 16 since it wasn't designed for it and might weaken the follower spring.

My favorite .22 rifle is my Marlin 39A. Never fails, good looking and very accurate.

Current Marlin 60 production is 14 tube limit; used to be 17 'til
mid-nineties sometime. I had bought some of the previous and was expecting the same on my last purchase. Called them about it and was told some nonsense about capacity ban and Polit. Crrect. :)barf: )

Never got another.......

I have two .22 rifles and it's a toss-up as to which is my favorite:

1. Winchester 9422 XTR Classic
2. Ruger 10/22 -- basic model that's stock except for the Weaver 4x scope.

BTW, swingset: That No.4 Mk.I(T) made me drool all over my keyboard! NICE!!!

There is only on e"best ever" .22, and it is the Winchester 52, the rimfire that all others are judged by.

I do love my Ruger 10/22, got williams firesights on them...

But I think my remington pump .22LR takes the cake; the gun is FUN!!

Ask Cslinger, he was all grins with that thing... Runt seems to like it a lot as well..

The little pump action makes you feel like you are shooting buckshot...
