What is your favorite brand of revolver and why? For the purposes of this question, caliber is irrelevant.

Mine is Colt, because it was my first I suppose (that and they are high quality) - no other reason.

Old pin barrel and real blue S&W after WWII 40's thru 70's preferred Won't buy new S&W lock or no lock.
Colt SA ok Never liked their revolver line

Colt. High quality, accurate, and good triggers from the factory.

Colt. Mainly because they fit my hand the best. When I bought my King Cobra, I also looked at a S&W 686 and a Ruger Security Six. I picked up each one in turn with my eyes closed and the one that was the best fit in my hand went home with me.

I also like my SAA, but there are several other brands out there with similar handling and feel.

I love both my ruger sp101 and S&W629-1, but since to round out my collection the other 2 revolvers I plan to get will be S&W(want a 625 and a 500) so I will have to go with them.

No favorite brand, overall. Several are good for me, in various ways. My favorite individual revolver is the GP100 that I used one night in the gravest extreme, in a contest with no second place winner.

The words "in the gravest extreme" borrowed from Mas Ayoob, the title of his excellent book.

The words "no second place winner" borrowed from the title of the excellent book by the late, great Bill Jordan.

I cannot imagine life without my Ruger, Colt, S&W, and USFA revolvers, with models from each maker filling niches. The factory grips (pre-Hogue) on the GP100 and SP101 are perfection for my hands. An S&W Model 19 is, well, it's own class of fightin' sixgun that is eminently packable while being just as shootable as anything on the planet, with an equivalent barrel length. USFA makes excellent sixguns, and SCARED Colt into making great sixguns again. Colt, because they made the first widely successful revolving pistol, culminating in the SAA.

Caliber and frame size is DEFINITELY NOT irrelevent. Most people will have different makers for different types of revolvers. However, if for some reason ally revolver HAD TO come from one company, I would pick Ruger.

Pre-war Colts.

They just don't make 'em like that any more, plain and simple.

My Ruger has never let me down, but it's a distant second to my Colts.

I am a Smith and Wesson fan but only the older guns without the locks and hammer mounted firing pins. You just can't beat the clockwork of a Smith.

P&R Smiths or of that era and Rugers. I have one Colt SAA. I found the springs a bit fragile. I'd like to have a Freedom Arms in 45 Colt, and a Colt Python.

I prefer S&W, but my reason is perhaps peculiar. I would feel as well armed with any of the other high quality revolver brands.

Thing is, there is such a wide variety of Smiths and they all work the same. If you are familiar with any one of the many descendants of the Hand Ejector, you feel right at home with any of the others. You know how it opens and closes, which way the cylinder turns, and the general feel is similar, in calibers from .17 to .500 and in various weights and frame sizes. I don't have to remember to do anything differently to operate the weapon, whether I am armed with a mouse gun or a moose gun.

I have more Colt DA than all others combined, but some features draw me. P&R S&W. 44 Special and 41 Magnum in any make gets my attention. I like 32 caliber revolvers, I have more Colts in the various 32's, but I also have S&W, Taurus, and Charter Arms 32's. I'm not a big fan of semi autos but I do have an enhanced Norinco 1911A1 and a Colt LWE Commander. I have a High Power and a couple of Ruger 22 autos. I don't go by brand, I go by features and that's what I buy.
