Mammal-Venison
Reptile-Gator
Bird-Duck
Fish- Its a tough call between Flounder and Mahi-Mahi (Catfish for freshwater though)
Weirdest-?? Nothing yet I would call "weird" that I can recall.. I would like to try rattlesnake though

Favorite is probably either goose or rabbit, out of the large animals moose is probably my favorite otherwise venison.

Oddest was probably snake, or calf fries.

Favorites:
beef rib-eye
whitetail deer
doves
pheasent
walleye
rabbits
quail

Least favorites:
trout of any kind
coon
pig snoot sandwich
cow brains
ducks and geese

weirdest:
fried salamander - not bad - would eat them again
cat - never again

Best is hard to decide, maybe BBQed Pronghorn.
To be honest I can’t think of a worst unless it was burnt or over seasoned.
Weirdest is probably Squirrel/Rabbit brains scrambled up in gravy, weird but good.
I will say that I will probably never eat dog again though.

BY FAR the best: Dall Sheep. Not gamey, almost sort of sweet tasting.

Weirdest: Caiman
Oh yeah, there isn't a better piece of meat on the planet than fresh dall sheep. Stone and rocky mtn bighorn are right up there.

I've never actually had it because every native friend I have always manages to eat it all before the promised portion arrives in my hand. BUT, everybody who ever tries it says that seal liver is the best meat on the planet - even people who hate liver of other kinds rave about seal liver.

I'm leaning very heavily on a native buddy right now to give me a seal liver. He keeps promising, but the problem is that whenever somebody whacks a seal, 15 relatives drop out of the sky asking for a piece of liver. Natives can't say no to relatives...

Bear meat is pretty darned good if you shoot it in the spring. I think my favorite is just good old blacktail deer shot in August or September, butchered and bled in the field while it's still warm. It's tender and sweet.

Mammal:
Favorite is probably venison, weirdest is raccoon (it was greasy and gamey).
Reptile:
Favorite is sea turtle, weirdest is rattlesnake.

Best: Ostrich
Second best: Crocodile
Worst: Rhino

Had those all in South Africa.
A fairly weird thing I tried was kalahari chicken biltong with lemon and herb seasoning. It was quite nice, but unusual.

My old housemate swore that porcupine was the best wild meat.

He also said the old-timers in Maine wouldn't hunt porcupines because if you got stuck out in the woods without a gun you could survive by killing porcupines with a stick.

I have eaten 100s of squirrels. For me, it is the best. I am native Kansan and shoot many squirrels every year. I converted my wife and mother-in-law to love squirrel and they are both natives of NYC. Now THAT is some kind of endorsement!!

Weirdest? Probably racoon and didn't like it much.

In my early years, the hunting harvest was part of my upbringing not becase we were in dire straits, BUT because we all liked the Squirrel, Rabbits ,Ringnecks and Grouse that we managed to bag.

Deep fried young squirrels were good like chicken. The older ones were tough and nasty.
Quail is awesome, much better than domesticated chicken.

Baby blacktip shark in oil is mighty fine.

Big Game:Moose is my favorite followed by Wild Boar, Buffalo, Elk and Deer.
Upland: Chukar, Pheasant, Quail, Snow Goose, Cotton Tail
Weirdest: Gopher Snake - was delicious
