My wifes favorite is her SP101. On a whim, she had to have it. yes ma'am!

MY favorite is my Bug-a-Salt.
All my "real" weapons are thought about and purchased deliberately.

All of my antiques. Even the ones I sold. If I had to pick a single gun, I think I would pick the colt new line. Was literally browsing gunbroker while in the restroom at work when I saw it with minutes left and no bids. Couldn’t stop myself, didn’t even try to stop myself.

My favorite to date is my H&K MP5 22lr when they had a sale of them over at CDNN. Shoots great, and now that they have been discontinued, prices are going up. But I will never sell her.

A local dealer had a Franchi pump shotgun with nice wooden stock, 3" chrome lined chamber, all good condition, I just loved the look and feel of it. Paid a deposit, sold some stuff and picked it up a week later. Still a solid, reliable gun

Favorite impulse buy would have to be my Baby Browning. Usually hit the Used Gun case at my LGS just to see what's new in the old gun department. Have always wanted one but the prices on them had become so high that I figured I would never get one. Spotted this lightweight Baby Browning, like new with it's original box and paperwork, and at a price I just couldn't pass up on.

That baby was more of an obligation to buy!

Favorite impulse buy for me was a 'Close, but no cigar'.
Was in a Sportsman's Warehouse several years ago on Dec. 23rd with family looking and helping with last minute shopping. Two hours before closing.

As we were about to finish, I wandered by the gun counter and saw a Citori 725 (was not looking for a shotgun at all) with exhibition grade wood sitting
in the rack alongside other 725s with Browning's normal wood at the same price.
Not just nice looking wood, I mean Browning had made a mistake on this one. French walnut rather than Black with near 100% marbling.

Just could not bring myself to say 'Hey, hold up a while so I can put money down on this Christmas gift for myself'
and as the store was closing soon, I just figured to come back the next morning and get it.

Got there at opening next a.m. Gone!

Boy could I make a long list in this topic. It's not so much impulse buying, but more of a hunt. I stop in at the local gun and pawn shops all the time. I'm in one or two of the shops every week. But the hunt is not only finding a good deal or finding that gun you have always wanted. I have rules.
Here is the rules for the hunt. #1 Find a gun priced below market value. #2 No matter how good the price ask for a better one, even if it's just knocking off the tax. #3 Have a set price you are willing to pay and never go $5 over that set price. Always be willing to walk away.
Just last week I stopped in at the local Pawn & Gun shop. I saw a Marlin 25 that was in great shape for $89.99, I know it's worth $125 to $150. I ask if they could work on the price. I was told that I could have it for $90 OTD. My set price was $90, but I offered $80 OTD and they said yes. The Tax in my home town is 10%.

A few years ago I set a goal of 52 guns for the year, one a week. Sometimes I missed a week but ended up with 52 guns that year and many of those at outstanding deals. But I no longer set goals for buying guns because, when you reach that goal you next one has to be higher. The next year I bought 79 guns.
I should stop buying so many guns, but it just feels so good. :D

Did the same thing only at a gun show a number of years ago. Came across a S&W Model 1000 Skeet model, like new in the box. Not only was this set up for skeet shooting with certain ergonomic features, it also had some very nice wood on it and a spare 28" vent rib barrel. Asking price was great too, $275 and probably could have gotten them down a little bit more if I asked. Of course this was before the advent of "smart phones" so I had no way of looking up any information on this gun til I got home. Went back first thing the next day and of course, it was gone.

Found a great condition Savage 99 in .300 Savage fo r $400. Was gonna use it on an elk hunt but never went. Sold it to a good friend for what I paid so he got a great deal. He pulls it out of the safe every week and Admires it.

Ruger SR22 in Elite Jungle Green Ceracoat on October 14th.

Took The Lady to Gunshow on the 13th with the intent for her to handle small 9mm's to find a carry gun as her S&W M&P is too large and heavy for conceal carry. Instead she found this SR22 and the next day we back to the Gunshow so she could buy it.

I knew nothing about this gun as I didn't have any interest in 22 pistols. Since getting it I really like it and will probably buy one for myself.

Back when Mosins were $69, I stopped in at Fleet Farm and looked at the Mosin M38's for a guy I worked with, who wanted one for a deer gun. (I was the "gun guy" at work) I picked out a nice 1941 M38 and a box (big mistake, only one box) of HotShot 7.62x54R. Got home, degunked it enough to shoot it, (Fortunately, Fleet Farm had done most of it), and prepared myself for some hellacious recoil. (My experience with a No5 Jungle Carbine had left a distinct impression) It wasn't bad, thanks to the wide buttstock. I shot that whole box in about 3 minutes. I reported back to him that it wouldn't be a good deer gun because of the arcane safety, but it was still a heckuva deal for a range toy that shoots cheap ammo.
Shortly after, I found two Mosins at a gun show, One an 1899 Finned Ishevk but the Finn stock had been cut off. The other was a "sporterized" M91/30, Tula 1938, that was a barrelled action and magazine/trigger group. (No wood) $50 for the 1899, $25 for the other. I found a Hungarian M44 stock to put the 91/30 in on eBay for $10, so for $35 I had an accurate, albeit ugly, Mosin. I call it FrankenTula™, and it is my most accurate Mosin; I have hunted with it several times, and my boys are already fighting over who gets it when I'm gone.

Mine would be a Norinco 1911 for $325 OTD at a pawn shop. I really enjoy shooting this no frills 1911. The only thing I replaced were the crappy grips with a nice set of wooden checkered grips.
Runner up would be a Bulgarian Makarov for $150OTD. Came with the red commie star grip, a Pearce grip, holster, two magazines and a cleaning rod. I carried this one for CCW for many years. In fact it is the only piece I have pulled in a SHTF moment.

George P, I'd find it hard to pass up a P7 if I found one at a reasonable price. They are spendy enough that I would have to find one when I had a significant kitty saved.

After completing a "parked" order at OutdoorSportsUSA I stumbled across an item that they had on-sale (and about to end within minutes) for these:

2v2E21twJxAW38L.jpg

@ $16.99/ea ... so I placed a quick order for 2 before they reverted to $29.99/ea.

Once I got a chance to work with them I realized just how nice they are and swapped-out two of my M4 stocks in favor of them.

A couple of days ago, whilst traipsing about the web, I saw them listed in what is, apparently, their native habitat ... selling for $59.99 ...

... so, a Good Deal indeed. :)

Only “impulse” buy I’ve ever made was my RIA Tac II 10mm. A friend of mine text me the picture and the price. And I replied “Sold”.

I normally think and research every gun purchase I make for at least a day, and often for weeks. The exception was a USP .45. I was chatting with an acquaintance and he mentioned he had a handgun that he wanted to sell. I found out it was a LNIB full size USP .45, and he wanted to get $500 out of it. Without even thinking I told him I'd buy it. I wasn't looking for a USP, but I knew I'd never lose money on that deal. It was a nice enough gun, but I ended up passing the deal along to a buddy when I sold it 5 years later for $550.

Hard to name a favorite.
Franchi 28ga O/U was an impulse.
A Savage Stealth was pretty close to an impulse.
A Springfield EMP 4" was too (it was hard to find and so wasn't totally an impulse).
Years ago the last brand new Browning A-5 20 ga I ever saw was definitely an impulse.
Gee, I need to learn to control myself.

I've had quite a few, but my favorite is my EDC X9. I wanted one but was having a hard time justifying spending that much money on one. I had time to kill before a meeting and happened to be passing a LGS. I stopped in and asked if they had any in stock, and to my surprise they did and were discounting it by $300. I did some quick math, thiking of whether I had 4 or 5 guns I was willing to sell to fund the purchase, which I did. I don't miss the guns I sold, and the EDC to me was worth the trade.

Ok Legionnaire, it’s your fault. I stopped in at the local Pawn & Gun shop on the way home and bought another rifle. They had two Remington 700 AAC-SD rifles in 308 Win. Both were like new, unfired, and never had a scope mounted on them. They were priced at $549.95. I got one for $499 plus tax.
I will have to say that this is my favorite impulse buy this year.
