Just bored.
Do you have a favorite Ruger & why's it your favorite.
Just Rugers in this thread!
We'll get to other brands in subsequent threads.

I'll start.

I have a 2.25" SP101 in 357 Mag.
I'm embarrassed to say, but it's a replacement for one I blew up.
The only thing I can figure is that I must've double charged it.
On a whim I asked Ruger if they wanted it for research purposes.
I was SHOCKED when they emailed & asked if I wanted a replacement FOC (free of charge).

It taught me a valuable lesson in reloading - PAY ATTENTION!!!

Besides being an outstanding customer service representation, it's a big kick in the teeth for home defense.
I definitely don't feel under powered or under gunned if I should need it.

The most accurate handgun I own. Includes a couple dozen caliber 22’s, 357’s, 45’s. Killed a lot of big game. Once, it barked five times. And five grouse lay dead, all 5 with missing heads at 15y to 25y away, all shot off hand chapman stance, iron sights.

Ruger Blackhawk Hunter 7.5” in 45 Colt. My favorite because I never seem to miss with it. My lucky gun.

And here is what that Blackhawk Hunter can do at 25 yards from a rest with ten (10) rounds of 335 grain heavies. Perfect for dangerous game grouse LOL

6" Stainless Security Six, Old Model Blackhawk .357/9MM convertible, Old Model Super Blackhawk. Like them all.

Mark IV with 3 barrels.jpg

My favorite Ruge is the Mark IV. I love shooting it and it's so easy to modify. This started as a 22/45 Lite. I bought the take-off 5.5 inch and 10 inch barrels from Volquartsen. The gun has the VQ Accurizing Kit giving me a 1 pound 7 ounce trigger pull on average.

I shoot the Lite barrel for Steel Challenge Rimfire Pistol Open with the C-More red dot sight. Rimfire Pistol Iron is taken care of with the 5.5 target barrel. It was $ 25 without sight and I couldn't walk away without buying it. I had and extra set of sights from the Lite barrel.

The 10 inch is just for fun. It's a bit too heavy for me to shoot standing but from the bench it's unbelievable.

Not an easy question to answer, like declaring which of your kids are your favorite. But if I had to be pinned down to one, it would probably be the Mk III Target. I used that to teach all my kids shooting fundamentals as they transitioned into teens, and later into adults. That pistol as seen many, many thousands of rounds of bulk .22LR and is as reliable as the sunrise.

I have had a number of Ruger single actions and 4 long guns.

My favorite Ruger used to be my Vaquero with a 7.5” barrel .45 Colt, but my Ruger PC Carbine has become my favorite Ruger of all time, so far.
As far as handguns only, then my favorite is hands down the original model Vaquero I mentioned above.

Here it is with it’s little brother, my New Vaquero.

It's a tough question for me, even just limiting to revolvers. I have to say that all my Ruger products have met or exceeded my expectations so far.

I guess I would say that the Security Six barely edges out the GP100 for smooth operation and old-school panache. But again - not really disappointed with anything I have and surprisingly hard question to answer. Call it a testament to overall Ruger quality, I suppose.

I had a P97dc that was a cool gun. I definitely liked it but I went a different route with my self defense guns.

My favorite Ruger by far is my Super Redhawk Alaskan 44 Magnum. It’s a blast (literally) shooting 180gr XTPs over 31gr H110 moving over 1400fps from a snub.

And I can speak for my wife, her favorite is her little SP101.

I began searching for a specific picture of my favorite Ruger...the impeccable SUPER SINGLE SIX and I have a bunch of ruger guns. I'm a outspoken fan of Ruger. If I took all the rugers out of my collection it would be pretty slim pickings.

My old 4⅝ SSS with magnum cylinder has accompanied me on many hikes, trsilcam trap lines, mushroom hunts, atv rides, horseback....... 20200411_175159.jpg
It's hard to choose a favorite...my lcp is my constant companion....even if I have another gun...my lcp is usually on me..
The SR9C is my 'real ccw' when I'm away from the farm.
The sp101 is my original ccw. And a fine one at that..
The American rifle series is great...
Blackhawks....superb..
SR 1911cmd.. when I want a heavy SD gun, also my bedside gun.
The mkll has transformed into a fast shooting barnyard pest gun for marauding critters of the night....rds and weapon light make it my 24hr plinker and possum snuffer

I built these two about 10 years ago and still have them, so that means something. Both have been modified with Brimstone trigger jobs. The blued gun has a factory 20" sporter barrel that has a custom chamber by a gunsmith and a Hogue stock. Just an old Tasco 4x Japanese scope but the gun is a sleeper! Cloverleaf groups at 25 yards off the hood of my truck. Great for whistlepigs up here.

But so far, only this flattop .44spl has stuck around for my Ruger handguns. I have a Bisley trigger on it, and a standard hammer. I tried a modified Bisley hammer but it pinched my hand so I swapped it back. I love shooting this gun and I carry it in the woods in a holster I made.
I've had 2 single sixes and may get one again, but the gun I will one day get is a stainless Mk2 with a 6" tapered barrel. I have an aftermarket adjustable LPA sight for it in my closet. I've had two 4" blued tapered barrel pistols where I did the rear sight swap and I liked them, but the 6" in stainless is one I believe I would keep forever.

My favorite Ruger is my 6-1/2" barrel Single Six. It is also my first Ruger that I bought new in 1980.

It has had a moderate amount of use but varied as well. Besides a fun gun at the range shooting targets and plinking it has dispatch its share of critters around the house and farm over the years.

I used it to teach both my daughters how to shoot when they were old enough and strong enough to hold the gun.

Also, with blanks, I used the Single Six to get my mustang used to close in gunfire. She'd never be a cavalry pony but at least now she does not explode when a sharp noise goes off near her.

I doubt it has had much more than a box of 22 magnum ammunition through it. I think I know where the cylinder is but I'd probably have to empty out half my gun safe to actually find it.:)

I thought I had a pretty good variety of different manufacturers, and I guess I do, however, if you took all the Rugers out of my collection it would easily reduce it by 50%. That said, picking a favorite one I have to go with the 4" GP100 in .357, because it was one I wanted for so long before finally finding it (top right)

As you can see the lc9s and lcp both have carry marks. I have recently transitioned to a Security 9 compact for carry, so the lc9 has been living in the safe with a couple LCRs instead of on my hip. I need to get some pics of the Security 9. The lcp still gets carried when I need to put something in a pocket.

I also like my precision rifle in .22 WMR.

I guess I need to get a more manly background in this pic, and my wife of course let me know that her bedspread better not get gun oil on it.

I guess I am a fanboy, but I have to agree, I have no complaints with any of my Rugers, the only one I didn't take to was an SP101 DAO Snub in .357, hated the trigger pull, if it had had an external hammer I would have kept it, but, it didn't so I sent it down the road. One day I may get another with an external hammer. I also am not a huge fan of the 10/22 but that may have been me. I sold my 10/22T with upgraded trigger, ArchAngel stock, extended mag release, etc, and went to the LGS to see what they had to replace it and found the GP100 on the used rack looking like it had barely been fired - Destiny!

Mine will always be my early production 1974 built New Model Blackhawk 45 convertible I have had since then. It was my first single action and shoots great with either cylinder and will never leave.

I have more Rugers than any other make of handgun.

A Single Six was my first firearm.

My LCR and LCPII are my two most common carry pieces.

Ruger makes good revolvers. My single actions have all been good. The double actions have been solid and dependable. (My only negative comment on the revolvers is that the triggers on the SP101's have varied from okay to bad.)

My Ruger centerfire semiautos have been okay. All have been reliable. Their triggers have been adequate. The Mark series of 22's is extremely good.

My favorite is easily my unaltered three-screw Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum. It's one of the later ones, IIRC. The trigger is amazing.

I got it kind of by accident. It was on GB with a series of bad pictures that focused more on the worn finish (??) and you couldn't really see that it was a three screw. I got it for a cheap bid because I wanted a SBH and didn't care about the finish. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box at my FFL. :)
