The plastic Rimz clips are convenient for plinking but my bud with the AR Pickup Problem says they are not secure enough for competition speedloading.

I reload my 45s, don't do any competitive shooting, therefore I use mostly auto rim cases. Exception would be to use plastic moon clips. I got sick of problems with metal clips.

Something like this came with my 1917...

I just use it, works fine.

I have had a 625 for years used the same tool with no problems. The 625 was my PPC gun and picking up brass was a cinch. Never felt the need for any tool to load the clips as just a quick roll of the case and they were in. Maybe I would feel different about it if I tried something else but then I never used a magazine loader either. :)

If you're a cheap bastidge like me make one of these...

A friend was looking at my plumbing solution today while playing with my 1917s and Enfield and asked me to make one for his 9mm revolver.
Going down to ACE hardware I found a 1/4" X 5" brass nipple in plumbing to be close enough to do just a tiny bit of hogging out in order for it to work for 9mm.

This one's for my 45 ACP & AutoRim. Works great for full moon clips but as the lip needs to be considerably smaller to use on half moon clip, I made that one out of steel.

Just spin the tool to get them out and press them in to load - easy-peasie.

I'm not much of a do-it-yourselfer.

I purchased the Deluxe Moon Clip Tool and it has made life easier:

I use moon clips in my .455 Webley. I also use Auto Rim in it as well though I only have 100 of those. I bought some moon clips on Flea-Bay and a very nice tubular de-mooner was included. I do plan on getting the Mooncliptool ™ when I can free up some extra cash for mooning up my .45 acp rounds. I also found a guy on Flea-Bay who machines up plates of steel that will allow shaved .455 Webley owners to shoot Webley Mk II rounds and bought one of those.

This is like what I bought. 10 moon clips and an extractor.

Listen to COunt ZerO....

He's absolutely correct. Yes.... BMT makes a fine tool..... and you pay for it too!:)

My moonclip tool works so well it's hard to explain. I doubt that company has many, if any, returns for their money back. I use mine for .38's for my S&W 642 and for 45's in my S&W 25.

Here is my home made mooner it does 8 shot .357 clips on one side and 6 or 5 shot .45 acp on the other.

I have the Brownells screw driver handled demooner. The 2 caliber mooner in my pics cost under $4.00 to make from hardware store parts. It consists of a piece of scrap 2x4, 2 lag bolts, 2 brass bolt sleeves, 2 screws, a piece of straight angle reinforcing bar 8" long and a piece of nylon bearing tube.

This is about as simple as it gets but it works. cartridges are still seated in the moon clip using fingers which isn't as difficult as one might imagine.
