This is a tough question. For years I owned only three .22 handguns. A Ruger MkII with a heavy barrel of about 5-6" and Millet sights, a Ruger Single Six stainless with a barrel that was somewhere close to 6", and a S&W Model 17 6". The Single Six was a POS. I bought it used, and it was at least third hand. The previous owners had put it through the ringer, and it wasn't all that accurate. The Model 17 was originally my dad's. He gave it to me, but I left it at his house a couple thousand miles away to shoot while I was there. So I basically had one good .22 handgun. Not long ago I was on here complaining about my Single Six and how I would like to buy a new one, but I wanted one with a 4" barrel. Someone was kind enough to point out to me, a special production run of short barreled Single Sixes, so I ordered one. When it came in, I went to pick it up and it looked great. But there was a problem. In the case sat an absolutely beautiful revolver. A used Single Six Bisley with gorgeous stocks and a 6+" barrel. I couldn't resist it and bought them both. About a month after that, I got a call out of the blue from a gun shop that I occasionally did business with. They said that they remembered me saying that I wanted a S&W Model 17; they had a guy that wanted to trade one on something else and they wanted to see if I wanted to buy it. The price was right so I drove over to check it out. It was in perfect condition so I agreed to buy it. AGAIN, I was standing there getting ready to do the paperwork when I spotted a Model 617 in the case. It had a 6" full lugged barrel. I played with it and it was wonderful. I had them work out a deal on both. So now I have four fantastic .22 pistols and have shot them a lot over the last few months. I guess my current faviorite is the Bisley. I have been shooting it the most.
I also have the Ciener conversion, but seldom shoot it. I like to buy the bulk .22 ammo from Wal-Mart and it doesn't function well with it. It runs OK with CCI, but I don't like to buy them 100/box. Oh, and I forgot one other. I also own a Ruger Mk. II short skinny barrel with a red dot on it. I consider it more of a novelty. I like the dot, but son't shoot it much. I take it out a couple times a year to play with, but it isnt' one of my serious plinkers.
