Hello Everyone,

What is the best tactical sling for an AR-15/M-4 Carbine that is completely silent, mounts onto the front of the AR onto a side swivel, and mounts the other end of the sling to a Burnsed Loop mounted immediately behind the action as shown in the attached photo.

This sling should allow the user to instantly fire from the left or right shoulder, drop the weapon and have it suspended horizontally from the chest, or be easily slung under the strongside arm out of the way. ALL without the slightest noise from a snap or hooking system.

Daniel Defense once made such a sling in their X-treme Sling. Unfortunately it is no longer shown on their website so I am open to other high quality makers out there.

What is the best option out there?

Thanks for your input.

The Chalker sling is a single point sling. It can be worn on a rack/plate carrier or with it's own harness. The sling itself has a bungee'd nylon lanyard with a snap hook (like a dog leash) that hooks onto the sling adapter you have shown in your first post. The only down side would be the noise from metal on metal contact between the sling adapter and the snap hook.

It also sounds like it would not be as quick to put on in an emergency as a sling would, or is my assumption incorrect?

No, you're correct in your guess. I think I was thinking more along the lines of long-term wear. Other "Quick on-quick off" options might be Tactical Tailor's single point sling or Specter Gear's single point.

A couple of my guys use the used the TT single point and liked it a lot.

I saw this single point sling for the first time a week or so ago at a class: http://www.tacticallink.com/
This is the best tac sling I have seen. First of all, the sling attaches to the gun on a swivel. The sling doesn't twist or bind. It makes transitioning from strong side to weak side very comfortable. Second, you can disconnect from the sling at the gun and leave the sling itself on your body. This has a lot of cool uses. If you are at a class and take a break, you can put the gun in a rack without having to get out of the sling. If you are shooting from some position that is more comfortable without the sling, you just punch out and can put it right back on. In addition, it has another quick release buckle on the webbing of the sling as an emergency release (the one on the gun is very postitive and it would be highly unlikely that it could be released by accident: but, if you need to jetison the gun in an emergency, it wouldn't be easy either: thus the second release on the webbing).

i never order it threw army supply,we brought are own from home.i am not in a sf unit, but they all had them,i dont know what company made the ones sf had.or how they where paid for.

carebear, you can find a three point sling at www.thewilderness.com that will attach to your sling swivels, but you will need to make your own swivel for a single point sling. You might try removing one of the other swivels and making a place to mount it on the side of the stock. That is how I have seen it done.

Anthony, if you are looking for a three point sling as you originally described I have roughly that setup, and got it from the above link. Not the same as a single point, easier to carry but makes some stuff like switching shoulders difficult. Single points work better on shorter weapons and three points may be needed to keep longer weapons from beating up your knees too badly...

C'mon, folks. This thread is old enough to be in kindergarten.

One more time: if you want to post on the topic of a long-dead thread, START A NEW ONE and link to the old one. And while you're at it, and while I'm grousing :D, please start equipment-only threads in the proper place, like Rifle Country.

I don't remember if Kyle (vikingtactics.com) was even selling slings when this was originally posted :D
