Tough one for me, came down to milsurps, and "assault" style rifles, but the ARs and AKs with high cap mags, low ammo cost, and the fact that they don't bruise my shoulder but still kick some and make more noise than rimfires makes them the winner for me.

Favorite Shooting Rifle

K-43 (aka G-43), the best !:D

Also like SKS, which "kinda" reminds me of the above.
You might say, all military rifles, for me.:)

I voted "High Powered Rifles", but for different reasons than most I'm sure... I hate making holes in paper and sitting at a bench, but I love just standing around, shooting steel targets from 50-200 yards. My favorite "fun guns" are shotguns, so naturally, if you give me a bolt gun that kicks hard and has irons (or a red dot) and some steel targets, I'm at home.

I do enjoy shooting my defensive rifles a lot, but I never "just shoot" them, I'm either doing drills, or zeroing... rarely just plinking with them.

EDIT - Lever guns and single-shots are welcome too, but a bolt or pump gun is just too much fun.

The older I get, the more inclined I am to grab a couple of .22 rimfires for a trip of fun shooting at the range.
If you don't have a good stash of rimfire ammo on hand then an AR might be my choice.

No all of the above option? :(

A day, a good day at the range is typically an 8 to 4 day. Leave house at 6:30 AM with several rifles and handguns in tow. Stop at Burger World for a large coffee and a few bacon, egg and cheese croissants.

I will drag along a few high power rifles of my choice plus at least one or two 22 rifles. Then at least a 22 pistol or revolver plus a .45 ACP or some large bore revolver. Just a matter of my mood and I plan the night before what's going. I may bring along the Chronograph depending on what I am shooting and doing.

Regardless of what I am shooting it's shoot awhile, BS awhile and repeat. I also bring out my cooler with ice and soft drinks and water. Oh yeah, and some lunch food. :)

Last trip I spent a lot of time with the M1A and my 308 bolt gun plus some 223 bolt gun. Then some 22 revolver with a S&W Model 17 I really like shooting and a few 45 ACP rounds in a 1911.

Right now I desperately want it to stop raining up here! Running out of the summer and fall days.

I use to like rimfires when I first started shooting when I was but a wee young lad, but as I got older (I'm 21 BTW) I just started loosing intrest in rimfires (at least in long guns, .22 pistols are still fun and i wanna get my hands on a .22mag one of these days:evil:) and over the last 4 or 5 years it's gotten to where I get about as much satisfaction from shooting a .22 as I do a pellet rifle, I can still have some degree of fun with semi-autos if I have a large mag cap for it, but in general esp out of bolt actions or singleshot .22s, they're just not that fun anymore when I've got an AK, a Mosin, and my friend that I go shooting with usually brings his AK, his Garand, and his O/U 12ga

A pump, lever or single shot rimfire, a brick of ammo and one of the little Caldwell rimfire flip and catch then reset steel targets and I'm like a kid in a candy store. This is plinking of the finest sort that keeps me entertained for a good hour or more depending on who's around to chat with during breaks in the action.

For times I want to get a bit more serious I really enjoy my rolling or falling block rifles in .38-55. They're easy on the shoulder yet can reach out easily to 300 or more. And the Creedmore style peep sights avoid the feeling that I'm cheating that I get when I use a scope.

Oddly enough a semi auto in any caliber is about the very last thing I'll take. I just enjoy the need to interact with the gun for chambering each shot. And in fact other than two rimfire rifles I don't own any semi auto rifle at all. I've shot some AR clones and they leave me feeling "meh....".

I voted other. My favorite rifles to shoot in public are the ones that people will be the most interested in. Love it when folks ask to shoot my rifles, it means I must be doing something right.:) My Vepr 308 has garnered its fair share of attention.

I cant vote, my answer would be "all of them". Usually depends on mood - if I just want to get out of the house and relax, a 50rnd box of .22 and my Single Six can provide an hour of relaxation. Sometimes my goal is little groups at long range. Other days ringing the 100 yard steel with "assualt-style" semiautos..... or closer in with pistols..... I guess I just like to get out and shoot. If its got a trigger, Im sure I can find a way to have fun with it.

I voted "other." Although they might fall into the "high powered" class, I like accurate, medium caliber (.243 Win, .260 Rem) bolt action rifles that are scary accurate and DON'T kick like a mule. Also like suppressed .22s. And the flintlock. :)

That's how I am, too. I sometimes do what I call a "3-gun" day. Shoot pistol in the morning, usually take the .40 and something else. Then it's down to the skeet range while the pistol/rifle range is closed for lunch, and then back to the rifle range in the afternoon. I have four different .30 cal rifles and sort of rotate among them, although two in particular get chosen more: my M1A and my M4 300BLK.

I'm the only one at the skeet range who shoots a side-by-side. One guy who's there a lot calls me "Jed".

Anything from .22 Hornet to .458 Winchester Magnum, including some pistol caliber carbines.

I am not sure I have a favorite. I probably shoot the most rounds through my 9MM AR, simply because it is loads of fun and relatively cheap to shoot.

"Barely kept his family fed, .......:D

High Powers.......put a lot of rounds in my M70's...trying for smaller groups. Before you ask, I have spare period barrels for all of them! My way of staying proficient.

Other,but

Voted other as I love to shoot the Mossberg MVP in 5.56 and the CZ in 7.62 X 39.Accurate shooting is a fun shoot.

AND miss shooting all the milsurp stuff also, still take the mosin's out as the ammo is cheap.

But the Garand, carbine & M1A & M-4s are too pricey to get lots of range time with.

What's an assault rifle? Didn't the Gubmint give up trying to define what they are?

Me? I like going out and shooting my magazine-fed sporting rifles.

I like all guns. used to like big boomers. Now I like rimfires. I enjoy trying to make small holes with them.

I voted other because you didn't have a box for "All of the Above" I'm getting older and have a little everything from black powder up to and including a couple full-autos. I enjoy shooting all of them but the older I get, what Onmilo posted sounds like where my tendencies are headed. I still have a few thousand rounds of rim fire and really enjoy shooting suppressed and because there is no need for hearing protection ... Just a click and then a "ting" as the reactive target falls or swings.
