By the way, what's in the box is "machine parts". A gun is a machine, and it is comprised of parts (which just so happen to be fully assembled into ya know, a gun).

Hi this is my first post here.

Wow billdeserthills, I have to say I would be so bent out of shape over that driver not doing his/her job. I would be talking to his/manager and making sure that they knew I was willing to take it as far as possible. I would even talk to those shipping them to you and see if they can use another shipping company. Wow that would just get me boiling mad, in fact I kinda am now.

Why in the world would you tell them what's in the box? :banghead:
It's true that when shipping firearms from the hub UPS wants you to declare what you are shipping, but I was at a storefront UPS, not a shipping hub. I didn't have a box to ship the mags in, so I bought one off the rack at the store and the clerk saw me put the magazines in it. He asked "What are those?" in a casual tone, so I answered him. Then his eyes got really big and he said "I'm not sure we can take those."
He was perfectly polite, even apologetic but absolutely refused to ship the magazines, because he was afraid he'd somehow get in trouble. UPS has different policies for "guns" and "gun parts," but he wasn't clear on the distinction.

If you have an employee of a common carrier that allows firearms shipments give you trouble over it you should call the local manager and inform them of it. Also inform the local manager that you will be sending a letter to the regional manager informing them of the discussion. Ask the local manager to report back when they've made their corrective action so you don't have to contact the regional manager.
