I just bought a ruger 77 alaskan in 416 ruger. When i close the bolt to chamber a round it pushes the round up and high left hitting the top edge of barrel and reciever. It deforms the shoulder of the cases.I guess i will have to ship back to ruger. Rugers quality control sticks. I have had problems with several ruger firearms that i have bought. Does anyone have selfhelp for this issue?

I have the same problem with my CZ 550 .22-250. It only happens on the last round though. The bolt starts to ride over the round before pushing it out, so the round does not engage the bolt face. In my case it must be the magazine spring is not strong enough to pop the last round out high enough

Just contact rugers QC and they will send you a shipping label for your rifle ,send a detail letter of your issues and stop the whinning. Today ALL have small amounts of problems that get by. You could have had that happen with remington, s&w savage, cz and on and on. Guess you never screwed nothing up. Ruger has had to stop takeing orders because they have a 1 million+ orders to catch up on . So a few get out there.

IME Ruger's QC is the absolute worst. True, it seems most manufacturers put out lemons, and I don't buy from bargin basement manufacturers, but of the middle grade builders Ruger's QC issues seem over the top to me.

Damn shame too as their designs and materials are solid, just the wheels fall off due to sloppy machining and an apparent complete lack of final QC check after assembly.

They are still a great value IF you get a good one.

I aware of a couple of reports of the bullet being fed into the back edge of the barrel with a loaded magazine with Hornadys ammo. The easiest solution is to load bullets with a more tapered ogive. The proper solution is let Ruger fix their problem.

Fine rifle, no problems with my .416 Ruger Alaskan. Only solution is to contact Ruger, they will advise you on what to do.
