Is there anywhere I can go to see instructions on how to field strip this pistol. I picked it up recently...it is well used, and I like it but it seems different that the other 1911s that I have. Any help will be appreciated.

im assuming your refering to Gi length guide rods vs full length?

if its got a guide rod that protrudes from the slide when the slide is pulled back. its a full length and a proper bushing wrench would help. but a coin or magazine can be used to depress it and rotate the bushing by hand

i suspect you need a bushing wrench

Nope. The Colt Officer's ACP has a totally different recoil spring plug retaining system. The plug has a little tab that fits into a recess in the bottom of the slide. The barrel bushing does not hold the plug in place. No FLGR is involved (although a conversion is marketed). You have to remove the barrel bushing, then disengage the recoil spring plug from the slide with a screwdriver. After that, it strips down just like a 1911.

hapuna: If you posted this question on Glocktalk, I've replied with more detailed instructions there. Good luck.

Southpaw, yes that's me also as I wasn't getting a response here initially. The odd thing is the recoil spring plug on mine is recessed and appears(I can barely see it in there) to need a small allen wrench to turn it. That's nothing like what I'm seeing in the manual.
Dfarriswheel: that's great and is where I always like to start. My gun seems a little different and I'm not sure how to continue. I am trying to find an allen wrench I can get in there to remove the recoil spring plug.

Someone has changed it if it takes a hex key to remove it. Normally it is just a flat-blade screwdriver slot.

Loner, I agree. I have just been able to unscrew the center piece just below the barrel. It comes right out in one piece. There is an outer ring holding the spring in still but I have no idea how to remove that piece. Is this a conversion anyone has heard of.
Southpaw where is info on the conversion you referenced? Maybe its something like that. This is the slowest strip of a gun I have ever experienced. :D
I'm not sure but it looks like it might be the Brownells part. Unfortunately it gives no information. Also it seems the hex wrenches I have don't go small enough(yeah what's next). I may try an allen wrench. If this is supposed to make disassembly easier I must be missing something!
