I have been a life member of the NRA for about 30 years. I have three adult children and just purchased five year memberships for each of them. They seem to be happy about the gift.
We have to support organizations that do challenge Anti legislation, but we must become personally involved ourselves if we're truly "fighting back". We provide a lot of guidance in Activism on how to...
Tell me who else speaks up for our side on a national level? All of the alternate gun rights organizations that are talked about on this forum I have never heard of. I don’t like the bureaucracy of any large organization. I don’t like the bureaucracy on this forum. But I don’t have much choice. You take the bad with the good in real life. The NRA is basically being ignored in the current gun debate. And I say this as a Life Member going back to the early 1970's. It's lost its clout.
That, indeed, is the problem. As gun owners, we are perfectly justified in feeling bitter about what the NRA (that is, the leadership) has done to itself.Tell me who else speaks up for our side on a national level?

I get emails daily from the NRA asking for money. I don't hear anything about what it's doing substantively to further gun rights. Right now, it's totally preoccupied with its own self-preservation.
I have never seen an advertisement from one of those organizations that you mention. That’s because they don’t spend money, which they probably don’t have, on advertising. It is myopic to believe that it doesn’t take millions of dollars to do what an organization like the NRA does. Sitting at our keyboards and bitching about all the negative news we hear only helps the left continue the march towards new gun laws.
