With Ice-T and Ted Nugent being involved and some of the text about it, it should be worth viewing and a + for 2A rights.

“When dealing with anything to do with our Second Amendment, our lawmakers need to keep in mind that it serves to protect us as individuals... Incidences of violence with an assault weapon are few and far between, less than 1 percent,” Koenig said. “We shouldn’t give up our civil liberties for a false sense of safety.”

“When you look at what is happening with the IRS targeting certain groups, or the FBI looking into media phone records, you realize it doesn’t take a lot to push a government into tyranny. I’m not suggesting we are anywhere near that point now, but governments do break down,” Koenig cautioned. “Look at what happened after Hurricane Katrina, or the L.A riots. The government wasn’t there to protect the people, and Koreatown was left as something of a battleground. We see small incidences like this where the government does fail us.”

I know, i have been awaiting anxiously since about a year ago when I donated to the kickstarter campaign.

Ice-T is pro 2A. The trailer doesn't have him in it yet, they just landed him as the narrator. This looks to be a solid documentary. We helped the producers to raise the money over at Calguns, this thing has been a long time in the making.

The part about the Hurricane Katrina "gun grab" that was especially disturbing was that even though many police officers abandoned their post (i.e short staffed), police made it a priority to disarm the citizens. Never mind that there were mobs who were robbing and looting, the police perceived the "highest priority problem" to be citizens defending themselves? Just whose side are the police on?

June 20, places in CA and elsewhere -
Hello Kickstarter family – The clock is ticking as our June 20th theater debut nears. We plan to have “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire” play in limited release in more than a dozen markets across the U.S. And, if one of those dozen markets is not yours, you can actually request to set up your own viewing party through our distributor, TUGG (http://www.tugg.com/titles/assaulted-civil-rights-under-fire). More details to come.

From the Fox News article linked in the OP:

“Guns kill over 31,000 Americans each year, including eight children every day. Sixty-two percent of these gun deaths are suicides...” - Leah Gunn Barrett

This is an amazing assumption to me. It is to say "If only we didn't have guns, then those 19,220 people wouldn't have killed themselves." Wow. Thanks for sharing about the film, I was unaware and will definitely check it out when it is released!

Guns kill over 31,000 Americans each year

In thirty-plus years of emergency response (in fire, law enforcement, and EMS), I've yet to see a shooting victim that was actually killed by a gun.

Killed with, yes, however, but always by a person, either self or another.

This is good stuff. It looks like limited theaters :(

As someone who works in the documentary business, it is a miracle that the producers have been able to get this film booked to play in multiple theaters. Congrats to the Assaulted Team, that, in itself, is a great achievement.

They have also mentioned a PBS airing and of course, it will be available on DVD and Bluray. Hope you all get to see it. More importantly, hopefully you can get some open minded "on the fence" people to see it.

Kris ran an effort to drum up interest here on THR too on the initial Kickstarter and finishing fundraiser:
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=676780
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=701818

Read up on Kris and his Emmy-award winning science documentaries. This isn't an anti-plant. The Fox article fails to mention Mr Koenig's resume in scientific documentaries and all the liberal bridges he burned in making this documentary, plus all the Kickstarting help he got on Calguns, here, and elsewhere, as well as leads to look for root statistics and industry folks to interview. He also did it on a shoestring budget of about $130k using crowdsourcing.

It's not limited to theaters. There is a theatrical release and Kris secured distribution nationally on PBS, plus there are DVDs and Blu-rays. There were also HD streaming movies as an award for Kickstarter participants. I'll be interested to see how Kris does distribution for those who didn't participate in the Kickstarter campaigns.

These are the interviews they had completed. I am not sure how many made it to the final cut: Gun Rights Advocates:

Why do people always have to follow a statement like this with a disclaimer like "I'm not suggesting that we are anywhere near that point now", we are exactly at that point right now. When the President has to say something like "ignore those voices that talk of tyranny", you had better hide the good silverware and load the muskets because what happens next aint good.

I believe we are at the "Last Chance" turnoff of getting our Government back in control peacefully. If we pass that exit, God help us all. :what:

Sadly, I guess, none of the film theatres in Europe will show this and I suppose our 'leftisch' TV broadcasters won't program it either, as it doesn't serve their agenda.

Any possibility of a download?

greetings

Peter

Those that were Kickstarter participants had a HD download as an option. If you check out the Kickstarter updates, Kris had this to say on January 24, 2013:
Using a similar distribution plan used by the recent film 2016, we’re going to self-promote and distribute the film in major US cities “art house” cinemas. With strong positive reviews, we will then secure traditional distribution. Once the theatrical release is completed, we will then distribute a TV edit to PBS/PTV affiliates for broadcast. Netflix and web streaming will follow by the end of spring.
The timeline has stretched out a bit due to financial constraints. The film was originally slated for March but it's slid back three months, so web streaming will probably be closer to the end of summer, I imagine. Kris might stop by and update us all.

I'd like to see it. I'll buy or rent and then stream it online if the price is right.

Pro-2A or not, I do not think Tracy should be a spokesman due to his violent gang affiliation and criminal history.

Yeah, and the Nuge has had hunting law troubles in the past; what of it? Both are popular figures, not necessarily stereotypical (Ice T is relatively unknown to many as pro-gun, and the Nuge is typically more coherent than many expect), and if they (Nuge) can hold it down a notch, are capable of delivering effective messages. I was kind of surprised to hear Ice T took a prominent role in this, since I had not known him to be an outspoken gun rights advocate (just occasional interviews in which he surprised people by being pro-gun and black at the same time :D)

I'll be keeping an eye out for this production; it sounds like it was very well done, and I'd be happy to patronize PBS for exactly the length of time it takes to air :D. If they do indeed choose to allow in on their station, good on them for letting a view be spoken that they usually represent quite poorly.

There is a big difference between "hunting law troubles" and a known criminal member of a murderous gang. The supposed initiation into the Bloods/Crips is to kill someone. So while Tracy was never convicted of murder, he likely committed it to become part of the gang.

Just because he may have turned himself around now that he has fame/money is no reason to have him associated with our cause.
