Finally Bought a K31!

I didn't honestly think they were selling for K31s for $165 total. That would be insane. But yes, that's still an awesome price for any K31. I keep hearing about how they're the most accurate milsurp you can buy. I hope to find out for myself soon...

I know, but when I reread my post, it looked like I could have meant that. :) If only... This shop does have excellent prices, so anything is possible.

I want one for the accuracy too. I've caught the milsurp bug pretty bad. I'd like to get an Enfield, a 1903, Mausers of various types, etc. Maybe I ought to consider getting a C&R.

Anyhow, I've been wanting a K31 for a long time. Potential MOA accuracy for less than $200? Sign me up!

$59-125?! Including shipping?!! That's like Mosin prices!

Aim had a few specials a few years back where they sold ones that had 'cracked stocks' for $59 delivered. Considering that they charge $17 for shipping a rifle, they were actually charging $42 for them. I missed out on the first sale but jumped when they offered it again- they sold out in a few hours. No cracks in the stock, just some larger than normal gouges.

Wow, now that's a deal. I almost jumped on those "shooter grade" Enfields they had a while back, but I'm glad I held out for a K31. I guess it pays to keep your eye on AIM, you never know when a screamin' deal will come along.

I found one that has a perfect barrel and action. The stock, however, is cracked in 3 places. Next to the buttplate. On the left side there is a 1" long crack by the bolt area. The worst crack is an all the way through biggie by the magazine release.

Is this fixable? I think I could use some epoxy and possible some small, strategically placed screws, but I'm not sure what effect it will have on the function.

Will cracks like this have any effect on shootability and accuracy if I leave them alone?

What about replacement stocks? Are there any reasonably priced ones available? I found a couple online, but they wanted almost as much as the rifle.

In my most current flyer from Southern Ohio Guns (SOG ) ,they have K31 beechwood for 159.95 and walnut for 189.95, slings for 7.95 and gp11 60 rd box for 29.95. Just got the flyer less then a week ago, hope it helps someone. Got my K31 last year for 110.

That looks like a fine rifle. Made like a Swiss watch you know. You should check out the thread on some tips for taking photos. Hope you shoot that K31 better than you shoot your camera :neener:
I've had a K31 before, I sold it, now wished I had kept it. Stock was a little dinged up but with handloaded ammo I could tell it was a much more capable rifle than I was an open sight shooter. If the truth be known the K31 is perhaps one of, if not the most accurate standard issue military rifle that can be had.

Seems that most of the time when I hear about someone who sold a gun end up regretting it later. Fortunately, I have yet to sell a single firearm. I'll have to get those Shoot-N-C targets to help sight it in when I go shooting...some time.

The Shoot N C targets work well for me too if you put them on a bright white background target. They lend quite a bit of contrast so the eye has something to focus on. Over the years I would say I've had in the neighborhood of 300+ long guns. Mostly all military or target type rifles. Couldn't keep em all though. So I've gone through a couple of "weeding out" processes. Although the K31 was a very fine rifle as is yours I'm sure the criteria for keeping was they have to be pristine both mechanically and cosmetically and show a realistic ability to shoot 1 MOA with quality handloaded ammo. Of course with iron sighted rifles and given my eyesight and my ability to shoot iron sights (perhaps inability would be a better way to say that) 1 MOA is a subjective matter of deduction. In short just cause I can't get the rifle to shoot 1 MOA with iron sights doesn't mean it can't. I've have and have had only one iron sighted rifle that I could shoot 1 MOA with. It is a CG63, a national match Swedish Mauser. Here's a pic of it. The sights on it are so good that it is like having a scope without the optics. Kinda sorta.

Accurate

Very accurate. I bought one a couple of years ago for $150.00. Then I bought a couple of hundred rounds of Privi. I reload, so boxer primed brass was important. It uses standard large rifle primers, and .308 bullets. Lots of recipes available. Ballistics very similar to 30.06. Careful loading, as always, yielded good results.

I bought a 4x scope and a mount from aimsurplus,

any remaining questions about the accuracy of the rifle were answered.:D
