Finally got an XD

After much renting, researching, shooting, and asing questions on THR I have finally made my choice for an auto for CCW/Home defense.
I finally got an XD service with the gear in 9mm and put it on layaway. Don't care about the holster, but the two hi-cap mags are really nice. I've shot XD's before and I enjoy them.
I'll get the 1911 I want when I am better off financially, until then I took advantage of the fact that my birthday is next week and did an impromptu "pledge drive" and got my family to pitch in towards my "birthday" present.

Congrats on the birthday and on the new XD. I have an XD45 service, but have shot my buddies XD-9 service and tactical a lot. I think you'll like it.

Good choice. 9mm is realtively cheap to shoot and I think the XD platform is very good.

I got the XD .45 acp 4 inch, a couple of weeks ago. Very nice gun. Quite pleased with it so far. For a .45 it shoots very smoothly, hardly any recoil. I got 13 in the mag and one in the chamber, could not be happier with that choice.

happy birthday, what a way to celibrate, great choice on the xd you will not be dissapointed. i have an xd .40 and absolutly love it. there is no reason for me to ever buy another brand of handgun!

I picked up a XD9 service on Friday. I traded a few other guns for it. So far with only 100 rounds through it, it's great! Love he feel of it. Very much like the 1911 I have.

I don't know about the night sights...I'll have to check when I make a payment. Mine was 449$ with the gear package.
I know the holster isn't much, but I was happy to see 2 16 round mags! So the mags, the cleaning kit, and the mag loader made it worth my while to pick instead if the cheaper XD for 419$~Nathan

If any of you are interested in an XD, contact the Scottsdale Gun Club. They just received a shipment of dozens of XD "vault guns" from Springfield .Every one of them is priced at $399 and they are all in terrific shape. Saw a lot of 9's and 40's that were in pristine condition.
