First handgun purchase, XD-9 or G19

Well I'm officially going with XD. I'm sure I'll get the G19 eventually, just not now.

And right now Springfield has a deal where you get three extra mags with any new XD or XDm purchase.

If i have to pick one ill say the Glock i don't like the tiny backstrap on the XD.

Might i suggest the M&P 9, it is quite the nifty gun. But like i said Glock is my choice for what you are asking.

The 19,17,or 26 is about as good as it gets. Also check out the M&P 9mm.

Don't over look the CZ 75 compact models they fit most peoples hands very well. I either carry the CZ 75 D or the XD subcompact and like them both.

Ergos are way different. Glock is notorious for the hump towards the bottom of the grip. XD just made the hump bigger, so it spans almost all the way across the handle. IOW, they screwed up what could have been a nice, straight backstrap by scooping out a large and prominent recess at the top.

A couple polymers that get it right, IMO, are FNP/FNX and M&P.

Neither would be a bad choice. You'll be fine with the XD. I own both. Like you, the XD's are a little more natural fit for me but the Glock shoots really well. It's a little easier to conceal.
