First, Thanks for this site and the advice and discussion about pros and cons of various seemingly endless options from the "gotta get a varmint rifle" to the great feeling today of coming back from the range from its first break in.

Here is my set up:

Rifle: Savage 12BVSS in 223 cal: see: http://www.savagearms.com/12bvss.htm Got the rifle from Wilson & Associates [[email protected]] for $589 plus $15 shipping and $23 for my local FFL guy.

Scope: Mueller 8.5 x 25 x 50 mm with red dot See: http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MU852550IGRS.html
Got the scope from E. Arthur Brown Co for $220 including sunshade.

Rings/Mounts: Warne Maxima Quick-Detachable Weaver-Style Scope Rings Silver Medium (I just ordered the high ring moint as the mediums did not give me any clearance between scope and barrel.) These are impressive rings and mounts. Very well machined and strong/solid. See http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=972301
Got the rings and mount from Midway for $61. They are switching out the high mounts with no hassel.

Total Price to get this to the range: $925 + $125 for 500 rds of Georgia Arms52 gr BT match ammo.

We had a blast today. I the accutrigger is as good as I had hoped. It comes out of the box pretty sensitive - say 2lbs. The scope is amazing. Clear , 1/8 adjustments, easy to adjusrt power and AO Focus. red dot for low light. I do not know how it will hold up but it made a very favorable impression first time on the range! As I hoped, the rifle setup is heavy enough to allow me to hold the rifle on target and keep the target in the picture during the gentle recoil.

My prospective son-in-law and I shot tight groups during zero and we were soon plugging a gopher-size target at 150 yards. I feel like a kid with a new pair of cowboy boots!
