He brought only one gun and let me shoot 38’s to my heart’s content. Towards the end of the session I happened to read the scroll marks, “Python .357” I asked to fire a .357 and he obliged. A love affair was started that day almost 30 years ago.

They were still being made by the time I was old enough to buy my own but just starting out in the world it wasn’t in the cards. Then came marriage and a young child with special needs and the rising cost of a Python kept me from a dream. January 1, 2020 the announcement was made Colt was reintroducing the Python and I was elated. Two and a half years later I finally have the prancing pony in my little stable.

As many have said, if you want a Python the only thing that will scratch the itch is a Python. I’ve had many of the offerings from S&W and they are in many ways better guns but they are not a Python.

I owned a Python for exactly 15 minutes many years ago. I made the mistake of calling the wife and telling her what I just bought and she explained our budget.

New kid so it wasn't in the stars. The seller was nice enough to give me back my money. He put the gun on top of his car, forgot it was there and it landed somewhere between us and his home.

Someone got a free Python that day.

Preach it Brother! I don't care who says "this is better" or "that's better", this and that are not Pythons.

I have to agree. Many will poo poo on the new Python. I have Rugers and Smiths and they are special in their own right. They are better than the Python in some aspects but the Python has its own merits that the others do not. It's also just something about them I guess because I could never have one until now. I have an order in for a 4 inch whenever my lgs gets one.

I bought a 1982 Colt Python 6" for $600.00 in 1999, (bright blue which just came back from colt for a complete tune up) because it was already in California I had no problem with the buy. Took it to the range and shot both .357 and 38's about 5 times and then it became a safe queen. Since I am up in years, and can't take the shock of the .357 loads and not in the best of health, I gave it to my son which is a CHP, they will get all my firearms when I pass anyway. It was a beautiful blackish blue but someone had put Packmeyer grips on it and I didn't have the original grips. Shot outstanding. I like my Ruger Blackhawk in 30 Carbine better. I have a lot of pistols and revolvers so what is one less. Love the Pythons though, the only one you can get in California is the Stainless Steel model, don't make sense to me but neither does the other laws, especially against the black guns. Stupid elected officials.

Congratulations! I carried one as a new copper back in the 80's (because al the cool kids had one) but had to sell it. Wanted one ever since!

Bought mine new in the box for $350 back in the late 70's, still got it, won't ever sell it. Quit shooting magnums out of it about 20 years ago, instead it has seen a steady diet of my 357 handloads ( around 850/900fps.) still the most accurate and beloved of all my revolvers.
When I got the bug to shoot magnums again I bought a Dan Wesson, beautiful gun very accurate but not a Python. :uhoh:
The other day a friend, who's a Dan Wesson fan made me an offer on it I couldn't refuse, sold it and I pick up my new 6" Python tomorrow. ;)
I now have 4 Colt snakes and am seriously considering trading my Cobra target for a 4" version of the Python and don't even get me started on the 3".
Best addiction I've ever had. :D

What size allen wrench on the new Colt sight?
If my memory serves me right it's. .50. Mine was tight and they have blue loc tite. Thought I was gonna strip it or break little wrench grabbed it close and finally broke loose.
