So after researching shotguns off and on for six months I finally pulled the trigger so to speak and ordered a Mossberg 500 combo. It has the walnut stocks and an 18" and 28" barrel. Shipped it was $287 to my FFL. I was torn between the 500 and 870, but every 500 I picked up felt good to me, and the price seemed right so I did it. This is my first shotgun since I was 10 - or in the last 25 years so I'm uber excited. It's primary roll will be HD, with the occasional skeet or trap thrown in.
I wanted to thank everyone that posts on this forum. I've read countless threads from doing searches and feel I made a better decision as a result of the knowledge learned from this forum.
I plan on upgrading the safety to metal (probably an oversized vang comp safety), adding a side saddle, a light, and that's pretty much it. Oh, and then tons of shooting!
