Hi All for the last couple of years I have been looking at SIG p220s as my modern companion to the 1911. Yesterday I came a cross a used one which was only six months old. It belonged to a fellow club member who bought it on the spur of the moment and then discovered that firing it aggrevated his arthritic wrists. This came as a surprise to him since he shoots 1911s with the same load and has had no problem. I was able to fire it and its shoots great. The single action trigger is excellent. Here is a PIC:

It seems larger than a 1911 but when I took out the calipers its actually smaller in length and only a tiny bit thicker across the grips and slide. Here is a pic next to my old Government model.

So you folks who own and shoot P220s what loads do you use and how is the accuracy?? any suggestions for grips or a holster?? And where can I get a couple of reasonably priced spare mags for it??

Thanks

I'll bite.

Grips: Factory plastic with "3M" outdoor tread tape on the front and back strap.

Holster: Bianchi Shadow II

Rounds: Speer Gold Dot. 185 or 230 GDHP

I just have the 2 mags that came with mine, and did not need more.

RTFM

Congrats on the P220ST.

Most of the well known holster makers can make a quality holster for you.

You can check out Milt Sparks, Alessi, HBE, Desantis, Safariland, Tucker, Del Fatti, Bladetech, Sidearmor, Comptac....

Nice. Sharp looking peice.

I am just curious as to whether SIG tries to screw the pooch as often as they do or it just comes naturally to them. They never seem to be able to get the right combination of features to make any of their pistols really appeal to me. I care for neither alloy frames or DA/SA triggers but if they would introduce a 220 Stainless with either their DAK or, preferrebly, SAO triggers, I would be all over it. Unfortunately, they do not, so despite their following among some circles, the best I can manage for them is "eh." Glad you like yours, though.
