Still torn between the CZ 75 D PCR Compact and the Glock 19. The store owner at the range told me to go with the 19. Of course, that's what he sells so what else is he going to tell me. My buddy's dad, who is an FFL dealer and gun collector said go with the CZ. I've read great things about both guns but want something that the wife will enjoy and my son's can eventually shoot. To make it worse my other buddy is pushing the Sig 229 pretty hard. That's all I need at this point. Just when I had it narrowed down, too! What do you guys recommend?

I only own the G19 so I cannot speak in terms of comparison, but I can tell you that I love this pistol and bet my life on it every day when I carry it. It is wildly popular and you cannot go wrong. I have no experience with the CZ and therefore cannot say it's better or worse.

I reccomend glock because that is the best no nonsense pistol(outside of revolvers) money can buy.I say this because aside from its great reliability fairly decent price point and durability,It is so simple to use and take down any1 can do it, I like the glock because they are all business, and with all the le that trust them every day, there will always be ample parts and used models.

I have both. It is a tough choice. I only lean toward the Glock as my main "go-to" because I've had it for 11 years - hence it is more proven - and have night sights on it.

If you can try shooting one of each. That is the best way to start. I own both the G19 and the CZ75B. My first gun was the g19. I learned to shoot on that gun. If I had to do it all over again, I think I might have started with the G17 because of the longer barrel and sight radius. With that being said, for someone just starting out, if the glock fits you and points well for you, it is hard to beat. They are very reliable (so is the cz), but more importantly they are very simple. There is only one trigger pull to learn, and no saftey levers, or other controls to have to worry about. It is also very easy to field strip and take down for cleaning, and tolerant of a lot of abuse. Both guns would be good choices, and if you don't like either of them you should be able to sell them and get most of your money back. I have spent about 10 years so far trying to find the "perfect" gun for me, and I can honestly say the G19 is still right at the top. The cz is also a great gun, but overall is a little more complicated, and does the same thing. I will say my CZ75 is a little more accurate, and softer shooting than my glock.

Tough choice. Make sure you shoot the Glock before you buy it as the grip angle is not for everyone. Same with the CZ, make sure you shoot one as the trigger leaves something to be desired although the gun is incredibly accurate.

I have a CZ 75B, and my buddy i go to the range with has a Glock 19.
I got the 75B for something in 9mm Luger because for a less expensive option
- I'm a 1911 /45 ACP guy, I also have a 625 S&W in .45 ACP. The CZ 75B
has been 100% reliable after 1300+ rounds. It's easy to field strip, clean/lube and re-assemble. I like the shape of the grip, as well as expanding my handgun experience with the DA/SA action compared to the SAO 1911. It's SAtrigger is good, very positive reset, I say good because of my being use to the incomparable SA 1911 trigger.

I've shot the G19, Accurate, reliable but I don't care for the shape or angle of the grip, and the trigger pull is called DAO - it's different but something to adapt to if that's what you have. I'd be confident of the gun if
I had it for a SHTF event. I think people say the CZ 75B shoots softer
because it's all steel, 35.2 oz weight empty, I think the PCR with the alloy
frame and .8" shorter barrel is 4-5 oz. lighter empty weight.

The PCR has the newer style sights compared to the P01 - three white dot and the intergral serrated rib along the length of the slide is a nice feature in a service pistol.

I have yet to try a Sig 226/229 but a friend got one over in
Seattle so perhaps the opportunity will present itself - I want to
compare it's DA/SA trigger. Seems all Sigs have a rep. for accuracy
and reliability.

I'd say get the PCR, I shoot the CZ 75B - hate to admit it,
better than my 1911.

Find a range that has both and rents them out. Or find a friend who has boith and will accompany you on a range trip. Or find two friends who each have one and will agree to meet you (and each other) on a range trip. The bottom line is to get your hands on the guns in question and take them out for a test drive and try them on and see which one works best for you and fitrs your hand and eye the best.

All the reading in the world, all the advice in the world, can't take the place of a single range visit and running a hundred rounds through each gun. And sometimes it won't take near that many rounds to find the model that is right for you.

I'd go with the glock because I like it's trigger mechanism better. With the 75 you have to either have a very heavy trigger for the first shot, or worry about deactivating a safety. (on some versions, there is no safety, so you have to carry it DA.) With a glock, you get a lighter trigger the first time, with no safety to deactivate.

Tough decision.

I'd go with a used Sig 229. I've fired the 19, the 75b, the P01 and the 229. The Sig is simply amazing and the stainless slide absorbs recoil like it wasn't even there.

OTOH the Glock has a steady-state trigger with no da/sa switchover that takes practice to master. It's pretty much the Honda Accord of firearms...reliable, durable...boringly competent.
