Howdy, Folks. In at least 3-5 and no less than 13 months, I'll be purchasing my first centerfire rifle. I have 3 on the list, and depending on moving fundage around I'll get one or all of them. The first is an SKS and that's a definate priority A. The next two are what I'm asking about. Should I get an Enfield (not jungle carbine) or a Mosin Nagant 91/30. Keep in mind that I'll be using it for hunting and plinking. Also keep in mind that when I'm plinking with it, I can't use anything that can be picked up with a magnet which means no steel cased and no steel core. In your opinion how would you put the Enfield and Mosin Nagant in order of what I should get first?

Enfield head and shoulders above the MN. For one thing, the Enfield has a useable safety, suitable for carring in the deer woods. The MN safety is difficult to use.

MN's have a safety??? Really??

:what:

Seriously though, I would agree. Safety on an MN is definitely a pain. For hunting I would want something different.

"...MN's have a safety..." Yep. It's between the shooter's ears.
"...an Enfield or a Mosin Nagant..." Either will do for hunting. However, go into your local gun shop and see which hunting ammo they have.

Eh, skip the Mosin. It's pretty fun and all but kicks like a mule and affordable ammo will have steel cases. Then again the SKS will also use steel, not sure on the Enfield.

Perhaps a Saiga in 308? Do the Mausers use steel case surplus?
