Just added a handgun to my slowly growing collection of firearms. Was looking for an inexpensive pistol to take to the range with the guys from work and keep in the house just in case.

The SD9 was on sale for $100 off and couldnt pass it up. Took it to the range the other day and put 250 rounds of mixed ammo through the gun to see how performed. Did not have any issues with cycling, firing, or ejecting every round.

I didnt really see a whole not of negative reviews of this gun, mainly the sigma line. The gun seems to be a good middle ground between the Sigma and the M&P. The trigger is smooth and tight, not too heavy. The rear sights are adjustable, but seemed to be pretty dead on. It fits good in my hands, and also my wife (small hands) is able to grip the gun, release the magazine and unlock the slide with her firing hand.

The only thing I noticed, but probably not an issue since I have not shot alot of handguns is that it takes forever to cool down. I think it has to do with the polymer frame getting heat soaked and not dissipating like a metal frame would.

For a <$400 gun, I think this is a great choice for anyone not looking to break the bank and have a fun and simple gun to shoot whenever. No need to modify the trigger on this one, completely different setup than the cheaper sigma!

Just take down the slide & take barrel out , It will cool alot quicker ; )

Not to rain on the SD9 love fest but I've handled a few SD9's & 40's in the LGS and I honestly couldn't tell the diff in the trigger between it and the Sigma trigger. I'd love to tear one apart and compare the internals with my SW9VE. I mean before I tweaked the springs on the Sigma (10 minute job) to where it is about the same as a stock Glock. That was easy. Could an SD9 be tweaked like the Sigma?

Does anyone own both and can comment on the common internal parts? Or lack of? The SD does come with a tritium front sight but I don't know if that's worth the extra $$$. Especially with Sigmas getting cheaper all the time. Used ones are almost free on Gunbroker. Just saying.........

I watched the Youtube videos that show the trigger job on the Sigmas. I also had my gun torn apart while watching... The parts in the SD are not the same.. its missing the little roundish piece of metal that goes into the U shaped channel. (i dont know gun terms sorry) There is only one spring in that assembly, its the pigtail looking thing.

I've compared them side by side at work, there are a few differences internally. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow if I get a chance

The SD series is a fine gun. I have Sigma's, SD's and M&P's. they are a nice middle ground between the two other offerings.

Congrats with your SD9! They are a nice gun and have been getting a lot of good reviews since coming out.
