A Colt Series 70 Mark IV that I purchased immediately after my 21st birthday.

I lived in Chicago at the time, and bought it at at little gunstore in Oak Lawn, that's long gone.

My first handgun was

Colt Huntsman .22LR. It is gone. Now my .22LR-handgun is Anschutz Exemplar bolt lock with 1,5x4-20 Hakko handgun scope.

My first... Colt Double Eagle.

Hello I'm new here. My first handgun was a Heritage roughrider in 22. My Dad bought one at the same time, he still has his.

My first handgun was a surplus CZ52, I paid $99 for it. It shot well enough, but was rather ungainly and not very useful for self defense.

Keeping with my tiny budget, I then bought a Bulgarian makarov. After I was old enough to do so I carried it. Never had an issue with it, and still have it. It's since been refinished because I've worn the bluing off the front-strap and areas of the slide, but it still works great after thousands of rounds.

My first new gun was a Glock 17, 3rd gen. It works. It might be a square looking utilitarian gun, but I will never get rid of it. It was one of my first major purchases. Not only that, when the serial number is read phonetically, it sounds like one is saying a certain explicative about another caliber. I'll leave that to the imagination I guess.

My first was a Glock 21. I decided I did not like it because of the huge size and poor ergonomics.

After that I tried several revolvers: 6" Smith & Wesson 66, 4" Ruger GP100, 6" Ruger GP100, 4" Smith & Wesson 686, and a Smith & Wesson 642. I decided I do not like revolvers because of the weight and long double action trigger pull.

After that I thought the 1911 would be perfect based on the reputation for excellent triggers. After two Kimbers and two Colts, 4 1911s in total, I decided I do not like 1911s because of the weight.

After that I thought a polymer gun would be the way to go. After my experience with the Glock 21, I wanted to try something smaller and more ergonomic. I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P Compact in .40 S&W. I decided I did not like it because of the way .40 S&W recoils.

After that I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P full size in 9mm.

Now I have my first gun. Or at least, the first gun I want to keep.

(Well, to be technical I still have my Smith & Wesson 642. I don't enjoy shooting that little pocket rocket, but having a gun that I can conceal in almost any clothing is too good to sell.)

It only took me 12 (yes, twelve) tries.

Browning Buckmark

Very comfortable grips, but I really didn't like the Buckmark's overall design very much.

Within the first few months of owning that gun, I shot the gun until the barrel came loose. I didn't like the idea of owning a gun that could fall apart if you didn't tighten a screw adequately. I decided that it was time to go for a more robust gun. I replaced it with a Ruger Single Six Hunter. I'm still not used to it, but I'm shooting it a little better now. I haven't been shooting as much as I'd like. I'm sure that I'd be much further along if it weren't football season.

Its funny, I'm a pretty darn good shot with my .357 magnum revolver, but I am a pretty lousy shot with my .22. I'm still getting used to the trigger and 7.5" barrel. I'm sure that I'll be fine.

H&R nickel plated 9 shot .22 revolver

This was my first real handgun if you dont count my Jennings .22 jamomatic.
I loved that H&R revolver but traded it as a youg kid thinking I wanted a
semi-auto. I think I sold it for a hundred bucks.
That was my first handgun and the trade I regret the most.

Ruger MKI and I still have it.

For all of you H&R fans, I just bought a 199 since my Great-Grandpa had one. It took me a long time to find it.

6" S&W 586 @ 1983 which I sold regrettably, but recently I replaced it with a 4" 686 which IMO balances better.

First gun I bought was a Dan Wesson Model 15-2V...so I guess that's the first I really owned.
My father gave me an ancient breaktop .32 revolver when I was 13 or 14. Can't recall the brand...but it was old when I was young (40 some years ago).

My first handgun was a UBERTI Remington 1858 Stainless.

Black powder gun could by buy when you are 18 year old.
I buy it with the money of my anniversary
I had wait to be 21 year old for buy a modern weapon.
It's French law.

I have a very good memory of this gun.
My first shooter feeling. With many mistake etc..
The beguining of a pleasant adventure.:)

A Ruger Super Blackhawk in 1970, followed by a gold cup the next year. Of all the crap I have owned over the years, I have always got my money back on firearms, hot rods, choppers, race cars, NO WAY.

Mine was a Dan Wesson model 15-2VH .357, blued, six inch barrel. Purchased new from a hardware store when I was 15 years old. Ok, my parents bought it for me with my money. Paid $251 for it. It is still the most accurate revolver I ever shot. Got rid of it long ago, however. Another of my firearms selling regrets.

Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag, bought used in 1970, along with reloading dies, bullet mold, and cast-iron pot. Ran tons of wheelweights through it, made enough money winning bets that I bought a new Reminton 788 (lefty) with the proceeds.

Traded it to a collector for a New Model Bisley Blackhawk in .41 Mag, which I still have.

My first handgun was a Ruger 22/45 purchased a day or two after my 21st birthday. J&G Sales was running a special on them for around $175.

My first handgun was a Ruger Mk1 I got from my father. Shortly after I turned 21 I got a Colt 70 series Gold Cup LNIB for $650. I really wasn't looking but the price was too good and I haven't regretted it! I have a pic or two floating around here some place...
