Being that you are in TX, you may want to check out STI Guns (especially with the new Texas law about guns being made and sold in Texas). Specifically the Ranger. They may be pricey, but they are excellent guns.

Recently bitten by the 1911 bug, too. My choice: Colt Lightweight Commander (model O4860XSE). I'm looking forward to receiving it, shooting it, and concealed-carrying it!
