I want a suppressor for my 450 Bushmasters. A little research has netted 2 options that seem reasonable.
SilencerCo Hybrid 46
Bowers VERS 458 or 50
I dont really care about the caliber versatility of the 46 so much as its functionality as a 45 caliber suppressor. A 50 Beowulf may be in my future so I like the idea of the VERS 50. A threaded 45 Raptor will also be in the future and the VERS can handle that with the optional SS baffles.
My questions pertain to adaptability between different thread sizes and specifically with the VERS, the AIMS system.
The Hybrid 46 currently only comes in 5/8-24 threads. My 450s are 11/16-24 and this brings up the question of adaptability of the 46 to my rifles. Are adapters available? Do they work? Are they easy to use? Are there disadvantages to using an adapter?
I will also be toying with a 350 Legend in time and they come with 5/8-24 or 1/2-28 threads.
What is AIMS? Google only brings up the Bowers website which I have already scoured and AIM Surplus....
To end, at this point I would probably go with the VERS 50 between the two of these. I dont understand the AIMS system yet but it appears that it will fit my needs better than other adapter systems.
I am very interested in other folks' thoughts on this and maybe help me along with the technicalities of all these different suppressors out there. Suggestions welcome as well.
