hey all,

a while back i bought a 91/30 and now i finally have the funds to put on the scope and mount, and i need a little help.

The list: pu scope, traditional mount, bent bolt (i want it to look like the original, rough steel on the mount and all, but they don't have to be originals)

Does anyone have any good sites to pick these up on? seems like the package deal (minus bolt) on ebay is going for about $300, which almost makes me feel i could buy a whole new mosin with it already fitted.

my mosin is an ex-sniper, are there really different size mounts for different spaced drill holes? any advice for putting one on, is my little mounting experience going to tear up my gun?

thanks for the help and any advice

You can try these guys: http://www.accumounts.com/

Yes, there are different size mounts. You'll have to measure the distance between the holes (center of the holes) drilled.

As far as putting one on, my sniper came scoped, even though it is a mix match not an original. But, the mount broke on mine due to it being crappy aluminum. Unless you have to drill it again, putting on the base plate and mount are pretty easy.

That reminds me, I need to work on getting a new mount, lol.

Pretty clear for optics made in the late 40s:

Assuming you don't have much experience dealing with these optics, they are tricky to sight in. Unlike modern optics where the reticle will move with the field of view, the reticle moves within the field of view. In other words, you might be zeroed, but your reticle might be way over to the left, or right etc, etc. That is if you get an original scope like what is on my rifle. There are repro scopes made where the reticle moves with the field of view. It's a bit hard to explain, but this site will help out a lot: http://www.mosinnagant.net/sniper section/mosin-nagant-sighting.asp
Original scopes are worth more than the rifle itself, being somewhere around 300 to 400 last I saw.

I have thought about building another sniper, but making it the PE version.
